Great set of photo's again Bobby,I really do need to visit this airfield and collection,I had a look through my log books and the last time I was at Old Warden was May 1970,unbelievable.

Go back 3-4 years further and I visited there on a Field Day with our school CCF (RAF Section). All I can remember is that there were quite a few of the "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines" aircraft there.
I think that a lot of the pictured aircraft above were still flying with "normal" civilian owners in those days.

OMG, I didn't notice that picture. Brings back memories of a holiday at Sennen in 1960 (I was 10 and not spotting, though idly interested) when they were still operating the St. Just - Scillies service.
Move on 4 years and the Penzance heliport was now open and the S-61s had just started doing the service from there. Yuk!!

Bob, I lived and worked in Cornwall from 1979 until 1987 and had several accounts on the Scillies. Twice a year my company (Bowater Scott) paid for the helicopter ride to St Mary's. As far as I recall, the return ride back then was about £25.
