Aha thanks for those Bobby...
One departed as I got there yesterday... Looking at your photos, shows it was UR-PAPG. Pleased with that!
The Virus 82-25 - do we know which country that is from? It has a red/white/green horizontal flag on the tail- is it from Hungary?
Cheers

Hi zz,on Tuesday it was parked alongside the Gyro HA-GYZ so I'm 99.9% certain that it is Hungarian.

Hi zz,on Tuesday it was parked alongside the Gyro HA-GYZ so I'm 99.9% certain that it is Hungarian. Martin and I did a tour of eastern Hungary a few years back and I can confirm that they use a two number + two number system on micros

have seen reports that spotters have been turned away because they don,t have wristbands today ,when i was there i was told by the safety officer to see him to gain access but there again things change.if you pay the three pounds entrance fee does that entitle you to a wristband? regards bob Bob, I went yesterday (Saturday) arrived just before two- Paid £3 to park up, due to the weather (windy) able to choose my spot as not a lot of cars. No wristbands issued. After parking up- walked past another guy who was letting the competitors in with their cars etc through the gates. Then I walked up to where the aircraft were parked and the head of security was there with a half dozen other spotters and for a £5 charity donation- took us around the aircraft. As I was leaving other spotters arrived and were told to come back after the security guy had- had his lunch. I had e-mailed the WMPC and Popham prior to my visit anyway- so was armed with the positive "Please come down- but doubt there will be any flying." Most the hangar's in the dip were closed and did not visit the hangars at the top. Do not know if the circumstances will change when the competition proper starts. As far as the aircraft are concerned I believe what we have is it- the guy who took us around said four others were not coming due to bad weather- there were a few power motors etc in some of the tents- believe the competitors are 62 in total. Happy Days Bob

i,m kinda glad i visited at the beginning of the week as the weather hasn,t been kind at all.the safety guy was really helpful he actually came to us to ask him if we wanted access as you needed someone with a green hi-viz to show you round.we were told not to wear yellow hi-viz as the people in the village tend to challenge you as being officious. i tend to think they believe the airfield is theirs for as long as it takes . but i believe they had to push the organisers to invoke the £5 donation ,as a lot of people had come a long way to be disappointed not to get any access. i must say the popham staff were very helpful to me as i turned up early and they made me coffee and had a good natter whilst we waited for the mist to clear.and also we had the added bonus of having a local lad with us .many thanks michael. regards bob

I got there about 08.30 this morning and drove straight down towards the clubhouse so no £3 to pay,at about 10.30 I walked down towards the large marquee where the safety officer was organising an tour for £5 per head which they were going to donate to the Airmobilty charity. They also didn't anticipate any flying taking place until about 16.00 but seeing as the weather had closed in again I doubt that anything happened.
Nice to see that the weather forecasters got it spot on yesterday and completely wrong today (what a surprise).

Arrived at Popham around 11.00 and paid my £3 to park. I was told by the security officer that, because of weather delays, there would be 3 competition exercises today, the first a low fuel test. Because of this, airside was a quarantine area and strictly no access. However I could read off most of the competitors, either the registration or the competition number, and have tied up a few more from the photos kindly posted by other members.
In the hour or so I was there, there was only one movement, arrival of a R44 which I mispoled as G-SXFY.
Several competitors were not logged, I suspect they were in one or more of the green hangars, all of which were closed.

Just goes to prove don't believe what people tell you should have realised when I saw the Spanish registration that it was either a visitor or competitor. It's my age Bob- thought with it being in the hangar with the others that it maybe going British!!!! Happy days Bob
