Another dismal morning for visitor numbers. We left at 12.30pm due to rain. My wife and I met and had a good long chat with GlobalBob but left Bob to finish his walking" in the rain". It was nice to put a face to a name. Thanks Bob hope to see you again. Hope you had a good trip home to your dear lady. Les

Hi Les, Got back in the house at 17:00. It was a pleasure to meet up with yourself and your good lady- what a wife- doing your logging for you. Look forward to our next meet up "when we can put the world to rights Part 2." Talking about "What a wife" Texted Jan to let her know I was on my way home and she said "Beer's in the fridge" After I left the Rally went to Husbands Bosworth- nothing flying- EMA where I made three and Tatenhill where my Do27 was seen. Not sure how many I made at the Rally logged just under three hundred- defo hit double figures- but yet to check them off. Hope the visitors are kind to you tomorrow- and have a safe journey home. Happy Days Bob

What a disappointment! Inbounds were very slow from the outset, and had almost stopped by 11.30, by which time the wind was strong - an interesting landing by G-BRUG! I left around 12.00 when the rain started, logged only 247 plus a few in military markings or home builds under construction yet to be identified. I have not checked yet but expect to make less than 100.
Did manage to make 12 biz and 2 WIZZ at LTN on the way home.

Hi Bob and Les
I did spot Bob in his "Chang" shirt, and I assume Les you were in the purple T-shirt with your pen in your mouth! However you were in deep conversation, and I decided not to interrupt you. Maybe next time!

It was an Everton Rain Jacket I was wearing with Chang on the back. As you say "Maybe next time". Happy Days Bob

Dave, Tucano is G-ZFOO, The Blue Bell Jet ranger over by the Trees was G-ENES I saw a Micro in the static all wrapped up- but got the usual haven't got a clue by some people nearby. 488 was a Europa no other details. Never saw the Vanz in the trailer park. Check out the SWAG (South Wales Air Group- they have a full list of every hangar- and visitors etc. Best I have sen. Bob

Have finally finished checking - made 112 frames, many fewer than expected. In 2014 (my last LAA visit) I made 248 on the Saturday, which as I recall was another cold windy day. Why so few visitors this year?

Just the weather. This was worse than cold and windy.
I needed 53 that were booked in for Saturday but only 10 of those showed up. (Fortunately there were some left over from Friday, and some in the exhibition which probably means I made at least 25 or so)
With the weather forecast to be so bad early afternoon (which it was) it didn't really give time to fly to Sywell and back before the bad weather. A lot of pilots went by car instead.
Next year...

Bob - stayed overnight at Luton, the Hilton a couple of miles down the road (much cheaper than the HI Express for some reason), no spotters but a few aircrew in the bar (!). Carried on up the M1 as Northampton looked cloudy and windy, called into Coventry for a brew in DC-6. Ended up at Birmingham and spent a couple of hours chatting to a chap on the car park roof. At least when I got home the wife seemed to have been missing me.

Hi Bob,I did look out for you yesterday but didn't spot you,the local weather forecaster (prat) said that the rain would have gone through by 5pm on Saturday,it didn't,it rained until 11pm last night.Today the forecast sunshine didn't really arrive and the wind did drop but was still strong with virtually a crosswind in effect.I did make a note of everything that landed today and I think it was about 120 different ones. Was the worst LAA I've been to thanks to the weather.A mate of mine who flew in said that about 200 had cancelled on Friday with more than that for Saturday, don't know how many cancelled today.

No problems Dave- I am sure that if you saw us you would have come up to talk. Was not a nice LAA but this year has not been nice - take it on the chin mate and hope next year is better. Did better this year with cops by 5 compared to last year-so weather sometimes does not matter. Alan- you went home the opposite way to me and thanks for the info re the Hilton- I think all our wives/girlfriends/partners would have been surprised to see us home early doors- like yours mine was. Happy Days Bob

Surprised to have made 45 G- despite the lack of numbers, about 20 more than I expected. plus probably 8-10 foreign.
Would have been a great day if the other 40-odd that I needed, that had booked in, had turned up.
