A word of warning - echoed on FC.
There is an Eastbound ALTRV for tomorrow (Wednesday 14th) which is for the appropriate height and times.
FC strongly suggest that the F-15s are the subject of this ALTRV and will therefore arrive tomorrow. From what I have heard privately, they will not be stopping very long (overnight at most). Apparently they are in standard USAF grey F-15C/D colour, have no national markings and with just a serial on the tail.
Regards,
Bob

Thursday 15th September
All gone!!
First wave took off from Lakenheath around 10.35BST (Thanks, Mark!!) and "RCH086" KC-10A 87-0121 from Mildenhall around the same time. After gaining height and joining up, they routed via WD6 (Lea Valley), MAY and BENBO, then down into France.
Second wave plus "RCH096" KC-10A 83-0082 took off around 11.10BST and, after gaining height, the F-15s were thirsty because of a delay on the ground. After AAR'ing over Norfolk, the combine set out over much the same routing as the first wave.
"RCH517" C-17A 00-0171/AK departed Lakenheath at 12.00BST.
It would appear that at least one, and probably both, of the KC-10s will recover to NAVSTA Rota.

For the record, four of these are no strangers to Europe:-
79-0008 was coded "BT" with 525TFS/36TFW at Bitburg 80-0055 was coded "BT" with 525TFS/36TFW at Bitburg 80-0057 was coded "IS" with 57FIS at Keflavik 81-0065 was coded "CR" with 32TFS at Soesterberg
The other 4 - the FY78 aircraft - were with 18TFW/"ZZ" at Kadena AB ('561 and '563) or 33TFW/"EG" at Eglin AFB ('572 and '573)

Oops!! And there was I thinking that you had managed to get up there to see them. I wish mate! The only saving grace, albeit slight, was I only needed 4 of them. Seen the 4 you listed above 'back in the day'! Mark
