Visited the above Balloon Festival today- having missed the best day yesterday due to going to see the Blues. Most the balloons had left after the 7am launch this morning apparently 13 went. As me and the wife got in one balloon was being put away in it's bag so no reg was obtained. But as there was a Balloon display at 13:00 decided to stay on. The Balloon display was one Ultramagic Balloon G-CBRK. But at least I needed it. All the other balloonist never bothered which was a shame because a lot of people were there and had paid good money to get into the show. There were a number of Toy Balloons in the pavilion all unregistered but I am told one Lilliput G-GRWL had been present on the Saturday. The Saturday was a little bit better from a report I have viewed with none flying the AM, 11 PM and 4 in the nightglow. So I cut my losses and headed to Hooton Park. Happy Days Bob

I went on Saturday morning and nothing flew, it was a bit windy so had the day at Manchester and got back late afternoon for the evening launch. Programmed for 17:00 nothing happened until about 18:00. 11 flew from the site with a further 2 G-BUOE & G-FRIL taking off from Abbey Farm further up the valley and dropping 6 of the Red Devils Parachute team. The launch site here at the Pavilion is not very big at all and the Balloons have to prepare & launch 2 or 3 at a time. I viewed and photographed from the bridge over the River Dee in the town centre. In the evening this means waiting for the Balloons to fly over and photographing as they fly away, as they are into sun as the depart the launch site. Graham, Apparently first festival for 6 years- if it goes ahead next year may do like yourself or pay the £2 parking fee just off site and walk along the canal tow path and view the balloons from there. The £10 entrance fee was a bit steep for what was actually there. Nice pictures though. Happy days Bob

I parked in the £2 car park, never again. The queue to get out was horrendous. Luckily I know the area around Llangollen so was able to take some very narrow back roads & get away. The main car park in town gets full quickly but there are some others around, so it is easier & quicker to use those.
Hope it goes ahead next year

If it goes ahead next year I hope there are a few more things to see. Talking to one stallholder who said they had to pay £200 for a pitch- no wonder the sausage butties cost so much. Happy Days Bob
