Hi Alan The event is being organised by Peter Brown. You can find him on his forum here blackbusheairport.proboards.com/ where you will find a thread about the 2017 event plus the facility to send Peter a message. Our forum here runs side-by-side with Peter's so we have started this thread here so that Peter can advise us about required help for the day, potential visiting aircraft and the like. Kind regards Graham

Greetings!!
It's been an interesting winter, although I'm not certain "interesting" is the most suitable adjective. Probably two years ago, maybe longer, the notion that we should celebrate Blackbushe's 75th year serving aviation was firmly lodged betwixt the things either side of my head. How "we'd" do it was another question...
By great fortune the airfield changed hands falling into the ownership of a business who appreciated aviation, and whose business is aviation. In a timely fashion the necessary moves were made, employing whatever subtle tactics were necessary to engage with the new owners. Happily, an excellent relationship has blossomed between us and we are now on a direct heading to July 1st and 2nd and "Blackbushe75", an air display, ground exhibition, entertainment, and whatever else we can cram in...
I should apologise for the lengthy delay since last entering any info here with regard to the 75th...It's been an "interesting" winter as mentioned earlier. Funding is no problem, the operation is very generously backed by the airfield owners, but operationally there have been set backs throughout the winter placing ever steeper hurdles to leap across. Parking and use of old runways was a particular nut to crack, but we've cracked it...I'm still under a covering of that CAA cloud whereby what we can and cannot do awaits final approval. Obviously events of the fairly recent past have placed a cloud over jet operations, but nonetheless, I'm hanging onto my jets in hopes that I can let 'em do their thing..
So, where are we today? Well, we have a Project Manager incredibly well connected with the air show world, a display director hugely qualified in the business of directing air display ops.. he is currently in Australia doing just that, he also is well versed with the CAA.
I have spent the winter building the flying programme, somewhat out of practice it was starting from the beginning again, but until very recently held back by the possible constraints on car parking - no parking no show. Cannot tell you how this drove me close to insanity!! Anyway, despite a winter with no sleep, not much anyway, we are now going for glory. A month behind schedule I've launched the ground exhibition marketing operation. IF YOU KNOW anyone who would be a great exhibit at Blackbushe's show please tip me the wink. Rates are reasonable, or next to nothing depending on the nature of the exhibit..
The website should have been online early January, but again it was stalled by uncertainty.. The website is about to be constructed, my pen is poised ready to write the necessary script....
AND we are now recruiting volunteers!!!! If you fancy joining the team please pop over to the Blackbushe sister forum and ad your details to the Blackbushe 75 volunteer enlisting thread. Or add it here, of course..I know the Air Day was tough for some of our brill volunteers, this time it will be different - we will also plan to have a party on the Saturday for our team, air crew, etc.. Fancy being there?
Come the day I can almost safely promise you some interesting aeroplanes at Blackbushe. Quite the cross section of types covering the 75 years from WW2, the 1950's, and the long years in private ownership...
The website will be up and running soon, or rather a temporary one until the full blown site is ready for take-off...
Again, apologies for the silence over the winter, but we have not been taking it easy!
Thanks Peter

Us lesser mortals most likely can't even begin to comprehend the sheer effort and organisation that goes into a show such as the 75th anniversary for Blackbushe Peter. So pleased to hear though that some of the initial obstacles have been overcome. I'm sure you will get an excellent "turn out" from us here on AFA as volunteers.

Thanks Graham, I'm not aware of any lesser mortals - we're all equals in this business, I'm just following some kind of dream where Blackbushe breathes true life for a couple of days and maybe shows the world what she holds in the way of potential? It's great fun, like a full time job (7 days a week), but doing what your heart desires. Sadly the whole project suffered lost weeks over the winter as some technicalities had to be resolved. Nonetheless, it's full steam ahead now..our website (the Mk1 version) will be fired up next week hopefully. The final version will take a little longer, again evidence of the hold ups endured over the past months. We've been promised some fine aeroplanes, most of which are costing many thousands of pounds, but such is the scale I'm clawing at. The CAA have given their blessing to a flying display, but after an air accident involving a vintage jet not long ago there will be restrictions the nature of which will not be fully known until we submit the final flying programme.
Apart from the flying I'm intent on providing an interesting static park, entertainment, some unusual innovative events, and a comprehensive exhibition area...Our team is small this year, small but perfectly formed and we really do have the best expertise in the market place. The challenge is formidable, exciting, sleep depriving, and based on the ever present hope for good weather. It's a gamble, but one where the stakes are significant on odds that we consider worth taking.
I look forward to a good contingency of manpower (person power) from AFA. Unlike last year, car parking, ticket sales will be taken care of..and we will have a great Saturday evening party for our volunteers along with our aircrews who will be with us from the Friday.. Should be fun!!
Busy weekend coming up - OMG, what have I done? Could be that if July goes well, no, WHEN July has gone well we could be looking at Blackbushe becoming a biannual event to alternate with Farnborough. Sounds a bit grand, not competing with Farnborough, but providing an air event in an area that will have very little to offer air show wise, especially if/when Dunsfold shuts the hangar doors..Better see what we can do this year first! Nothing definite, just an idea, time will tell. Indeed, time will tell!!
Looking forward to the AFA team joining us in sunny July!!
Peter

Evening All.... After a long and often frustrating winter, not helped by the myriad restrictions we must endure following reaction to the Shoreham accident, things are progressing well toward the Blackbushe 75th "Festival of Flight" in July. The door is still open for volunteers!! Be very different to the life our Air Day volunteers braved, especially the boys in the car park. We have contracted parking, security and ticket sales and there should be boots on the ground from the military to keep things in check! Volunteers' duties will be varied and managed differently to last year I'm soon be passing volunteer details over to the relevant departments looking - the call to action will come after that. I'm hopeful that the forum will still yield some more names, but all who have thus volunteered will be getting their 'call up' papers in due course. Duties will be varied, carefully allocated and rostered so you won't be bogged down in one place or all day. You may well be assisting the military, scanning tickets, crowd control..numerous opportunities. You will be fed and watered and on Saturday be our guests at the "do" for yourselves and visiting air crews. Most likely a hog roast and maybe something happening in the air too. .. Should be lots of fun and make volunteering something you'll be glad you did!! The website is now upgraded www.blackbushe75.com, and our Facebook and Twitter pages are live too..All we be updated on a regular basis! Drop me a line if you'd like to volunteer and have not yet submitted your name. Many thanks guys Peter B

Nearly mid May..cripes!
Plans for the 75th are going nicely thank you..Surprises and disappointments going hand in hand, but mainly the news is good. I was really sorry to lose the BA A318, but gained a B-17 instead. A modern airliner on the ground would have spoken volumes - for the past and the future...
IF anybody has anything resembling historic memorabilia regarding Blackbushe of the past we'd love to see it, or hear about it, or better still - borrow it!! The "History Hub" will focus on the war and the fifties - numerous guests lined up to join us in the History structure that you will see come the day..
Always open to offers regarding sponsorship of aircraft, also we have a little room left in the 75th's glossy brochure for advertising!!
Volunteers. I've now submitted the list of names to those who will be i/c volunteers. Sadly a smaller list than for the Air Day... Volunteers will be fed and watered, will NOT be given jobs like last year as parking, crowd control, security is all under professional control. Some nice jobs await, and will result in all our volunteers being welcome to the Saturday night party for them and our aircrews. Hog roast, music and some special 'effects'.... for their eyes only! The opportunity of being a part of our historic event is still there for a little while longer, obviously we'd like as many as possible to attend the volunteer briefings and duty allocations prior to the show..
It had been said that we'd never hold an air display at Blackbushe with the various constraints that are around. It will be our pleasure to prove them wrong!

June 8th.. Today the nation decides on the next government...but at Blackbushe we really would appreciate some more volunteers. Can today be the day you decide to volunteer for Blackbushe as well as help chose the next government??? It's all for our charities, we've given months of our lives to put this thing together...could you give a day please?? You'll get free entry PLUS a free ticket to give to whoever you choose. Refreshments and if you're with us on Saturday an invite to the hog roast event with our air crews and maybe an extra item???
Drop me a line at 75@blackbusheairport.co.uk Please! Thank you... Peter B
