Hi guys With a fine morning awaiting us outside we left our digs for the night to get what we had come all this way for, F15 action. It was an unsuspected minus 5 though, with everything covered in a thick white frost. The Heath was very busy with photographers and spotters as we thought it would be so arriving early had been a good idea. The action, though, was a little later in starting than normal:
84-044 out 08.46 in 09.23 86-171 out 08.47 in 09.25 91-334 out 08.55 01-2000 out 08.55 91-320 out 09.00 in 10.13 91-335 out 09.01 in 10.14 84-027 out 09.04 86-154 out 09.04 01-2002 out 09.06 in 10.18 01-2004 out 09.06 in 10.18
Fog closed in and 4 diverted away with Shifty 41/42 heading for Spang after a missed approach each on rwy06. One of the other two also called an hydraulic problem callsign ''....61" with Ramstein as a preferred option for the pair.
The fog cleared after a couple of hours but nothing else flew and we gave up waiting at 3pm to grab some shots of an MC130 and A KC135 in the light of the setting sun over at Mildenhall.
All in all, with plenty of F15s caught in some lovely golden early morning light or wasn't a bad day just unlucky with the fog stopping play.
Hope this is of use Cheers Mark

Nice log. I see there are some great pics on FC from Lakenheath yesterday. I enjoy spending time there although it's been a few years since I last visited.
My last 4 LN-based F.15s are from the same block, 00-30xx. I notice you didn't log any of them yesterday- are they still at LN does anyone know?

Yes, zz, they are still there. All with 494FS (red tailband) except 00-3004 which has a multi tailband and is marked "48FW".
Cheers,
Bob
