Gents, many of you here on AFA will know or know of Chris Globe. Chris posts on AFA as "egcc", he keeps us all updated with RIAT arrivals and movements and you may well remember him as one of the guys who along with Andrew Morley, Martin Needham and Paul Varcoe put together the very enjoyable trips to the Gazelle Squadron Display Team at Hurstbourne Tarrant. Chris and his colleagues have a new venture, you can read about it here www.threshold.aero and register your interest in what they have planned for the future. They also have a Facebook page, just go to FB and search for "threshold.aero" I'm sure I echo everyone on AFA when I wish them all well with their plans, there is a direct link to the website on the navvy bar here. Good luck guys. Anything we can do to help then please just shout.

Looks interesting. Good luck with that Chris, I'll be signing up!
This hobby is hard work these days, so any organised tours or visits are always good.
I see there is a potential Sultan visit at some point. If anyone hasn't been round Sultan yet, then I would thoroughly recommend it. It's an interesting tour with lots of helicopters to be seen. I've been round a few times, but depending on date/price I might be up for going again. I think my last British Sea King is there now, plus a Wildcat that I need.
I must also try and get on a Hurstbourne Tarrant visit soon. One of my last 5 British Gazelles is there I believe...

Hi guys,
Paul here, I registered here some time ago so have popped by from time to time. I saw Graham's kind post so thought I'd pop by and say hello. I'm on holiday on the isle of wight at the moment so may not reply again until next week but feel free to ask anything.
A brief explanation. We helped set up the media and events side of the Gazelle Squadron and held very successful (we believe!), night shoots and tours. When it was realised this would be less of a priority for them, we decided with the connections and contacts we had built up that it would be well received if we set up something ourselves.
So over the past few months we have been beavering away, and have launched our aviation resource, and are likely to announce dates on 4 events very soon. Also, one will be a major event in Hampshire that I'm sure you'll want to be on top of. Keep an eye out on the website for ticket information soon.
Our events are not aimed to compete with others, but to give photographers and the like, something different at an affordable price. It's not in our aims to make a profit out of Aviation enthusiasts. We won't be leaving our day jobs and setting up as millionaires, we enjoy it too much!
Just to clarify with the Gazelle Squadron, we do not run tours there anymore, and should you wish to look around, you should probably contact them direct first.
Thanks for your interest, and enthusiasm! We are grateful of your help with the links.
All the best!
Paul Varcoe

Afternoon everybody,
I wasn't sure I had a login but seems I joined in 2015!
Thank you Graham for your kind words and for starting this thread.
We have some great events, tours and photoshoots in the pipeline of which all will be revealed soon once all T's are crossed and I's dotted. Our data section on the website is a work in progress and lots more airshow/event checklists will appear gradually. The Frequency database has the UK and Spain in it at the moment, with France and Germany to follow along with the USA and Canada. As you can appreciate this is a mammoth task but we hope to have the largest and most up to date aviation freq database out there, to this end we will be creating a feedback login section where anyone who is out and about and notices a new freq in use or indeeed knows of any that are not in use anymore can update us. The same goes for the callsign database, we are very happy with what we have on there already and this will be added to as well and will also have the feedback function.
Please sign up to our mailing list on the website and you'll hear about updates as soon as we have them.
We would love to still do tours at Bourne Park but unfortunately the owners/management have a 0 tolerance for enthusiasts and while we managed a successful 6 months of tours comprising of 125 visitors in total, these were never really something the owners wanted. Maybe one day we may get the chance to revisit the situation!
In the meantime there are alot of friendly airfields and aircraft owners/operators out there where we intend to help them build their profile and name in their community and the wider aviation community by staging events etc.
Thanks for your interest,
Andy Morley

There are now two Sultan tour dates on the Threshold website- April 13th April 20th
Been a few times but as my last British Sea King is now there I'm very tempted! (plus a Wildcat I need)

Would love to go, however it's saying tickets for the 13th don't exist, and for the 20th it says that the selected seats aren't available! Does anybody else have these messages?

Both days are booked up mate, rather pissed off as I would have loved to go along had I known about it. I thought there might have been a "heads up" about the tour on here, but apparently not

I had a newsletter email from Threshold at 7pm announcing the two dates so I couldn't have been the only one. I guess they were snapped up straight away. I only went last year so didn't apply for one of these. I'd imagine there will be another chance. Cheers Mark

Blimey that was quick indeed. We went in 2014 however I think that quite a bit has changed since then. I've seen 26 of their 75 residents, despite staying at my Grandad's house hundreds of times in Gosport!

Tickets went live at around 7pm and by 7.45 were all gone, sorry guys I was driving at the time but I did ask if one of the other guys could post on here with a heads up. zz - can you PM me your email address that you registered with and I can check it? Finally, we're trying to get some more dates, probably in the summer now though. As soon as we get the dates and numbers confirmed, they go live. Any questions/comments, please fire away! Chris

Hi Chris
Thanks, will do, although I have a sneaking suspicion I may have messed up my own e-mail address so I re-registered!
Cheers

Just to be fair to Threshold, I will just point out that it was my error! Giving out the wrong e-mail address when I've had the account for nearly twenty years! Idiot!
