I visited mephis when I stayed at the heartbreak hotel (yes really!!) opposite graceland, i even met a family from the south who had named their youngest daughter Shelvis ( yes really) The pax airport was itself a funny place, quite big but totally empty at 16.30, totally full and with aircraft (NW) queing for every gate by 17.00, empty again by 17.30!!
Tge fedex ramps alway busy but the haze was so strong i got very little !!

Jeff,
Memphis was our third largest hub (NW) - it really only happened as a result of our take over of Republic way back in the '80s... I only ever went through there 3 or 4 times but, when the waves came in, it was one of the most impressive sights to watch. Seeing 50-60 DC-9's/B727s with about 20-30 Saab's always got the blood pressure up a bit...
I think since the DL/NW merger MEM has declined in importance so I guess it's not as heavily populated now, apart from FedEx which has to be seen....
