A quick visit on the way back from Yeovilton, hoping to see the Qinetiq Twinstar.
I got lucky, it was parked up outside.
QQ103 Twinstar
Also seen, but not needed-
QQ101 RJ.100 made a couple of approaches before landing ZJ647 Alphajet did the same ZH895 Chinook /HJ parked
There was also a Hawk, another Alphajet and at least a couple of Tutors but I didn't bother reading these off as they weren't needed. Unfortunately no sign of ZJ705 Griffin which I believe is based at the moment, and which I would have needed.

Thanks ZZ., could I ask please where you go for the best viewing? I drive past the field 2-3 times a week but rarely stop as other than the approach over the main road, I don't know the best spots.

www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/spotting/boscombe-down.phpHave a look at this Graham. It sounds like you know the best place anyway... Point H on the map is the best place to park up and view movements. There are plenty of parking spaces and aircraft land almost over the top. Walk along the bridleway to Point I. You'll need to scramble up a grassy bank but can then read off most things parked on the aprons (RJs, Hawks, Alphajets,Tucanos, Tutors and the Twinstar today) Hope this helps ps. I've never had an issue with binoculars up against the fence but there are signs warning against photography. If people are there for photos they usually park on the road, further back from the perimeter fence (Point K) and if you need Lightning XL629 on the gate, then you need to find Point A!
