The Concorde at Filton was moved into the hangar today which will eventually be part of the new Museum when it opens.

Looking at the local TV news,it was "flown" from the Hangar Apron to the other side of the Airfield. I wonder why it was not transported on a low loader? No public roads involved and the internal roads are quite wide.

RAF ODIHAM CHINOOK TRANSPORTS SEA HARRIER TO HELP OUT AEROSPACE MUSEUM
This summer, 'Aerospace Bristol' will be opening as a major industrial heritage museum and learning centre at Filton Airfield to tell over one hundred years of aviation history for the very first time.
The engineering team at Aerospace Bristol called upon the RAF to ask for help in moving the Sea Harrier. As a result, a Chinook helicopter from 27 Sqn, RAF Odiham was drafted in as part of a training exercise and spectacularly airlifted the Sea Harrier ‘jump jet’ across Filton airfield to the new Aerospace Bristol museum site.
Working together with the RAF Joint Air Delivery Test and Evaluation Unit (JADTEU) we transported the Sea Harrier across a railway line and over Filton airfield, successfully reaching her new home.
Wing Commander Steve Bell, Chief of Staff at RAF Odiham, said, “Getting the opportunity to assist with a complex operation of this nature is a challenge, but one for which the unique qualities of the Chinook helicopter, and it’s highly trained Royal Air Force crews, are ideally suited. Working with our colleagues from JADTEU in support of Aerospace Bristol, in the knowledge that they will be exhibiting this distinctive example of British Air Power to the public, has been an honour.”
Linda Coode, Collections Manager at Aerospace Bristol, added: “We are thrilled to welcome the Sea Harrier to Aerospace Bristol and would like to thank the RAF for their support

Jeff - You sound like a bloke in the know. What's the intention of moving the great little Bristol collection at Kemble across to Filton? Is that part of the game plan and have they moved already? Cheers Keith

The collection that was at Kemble was moved some time ago. I believe most if not all of it is kept in the Assembly Hangar at Filton prior to being moved into the new Museum on the other side of the Airfield.
