Syrianair has taken delivery of its maiden Airbus widebody aircraft following the arrival of the Chadian-registered A340-300 in Damascus last weekend, reports ch-aviation.
The sixteen year-old quadjet, which will shortly be transferred to the local Syrian register as YK-AZA, started off its life in service for Cathay Pacific in 2001 before being transitioned to SriLankan Airlines in 2011 where it was until August 2015. Thereafter, it was placed into storage at Orlando Sanford before being ferried to Kazakhstan as UP-A4001 in April last year. From there it was moved to Tehran Mehrabad where it was temporarily transferred onto the AOC of AirInter 1 as TT-WAG ahead of its recent delivery to Syria.
