Morning all,
Got up at sunrise, had breakfast and caught hotel shuttle bus to Tampa airport where we spotted on top of the MSCP that overlooks the JetBlue/United terminal on one side and American/U.S Airways on the other. It is best advised to contact the airport authorities in advance and they will let the airport police have your details allowing to spot/photograph without any hassle. The main connect is Brenda Perez and her email address is BPerez@TampaAirport.com,the details she will require are Mobile Number/Drivers License Number/Vehicle Type and License Plate and Day,Time and Location,as we didn't pick our car up until 10.30 I gave her our Passport Numbers instead.Anyway on with log.Tampa is served by all of the major U.S airlines with Southwest being the biggest in terms of aircraft movements. There is also a Raytheon dealership on the far side of the airport but this year I felt that the amount of aircraft on view was down on our previous visits.A total of 20 biz were logged with the non N reg ones being:
D-AZEM Falcon 900EX
HB-IUW Falcon 900B
LV-CNW Hawker 4000
PT-FPM 125-850XP
Also seen was PR-GEB King Air 350
Outside one of the hangars were B737's N240JT,N431AG and N530TP along with N223NV an A320 of Allegiant and B757 00-9001 (all white) departed.
Next stop was a new airport for me Clearwater/St Petersburg, not the busiest of places but 15 biz were logged all N reg.Allegiant have a base here and lined up outside the terminal were A320's N219NV and N221NV and 3 MD80's N425NV,N880GA and N891GA and in the small cargo area was UPS A300F N141UP.A couple of other interesting aircraft were N43722 Aero L.39 Albatross and N5017N/2102516 Boeing B.17 Flying Fortress. The USCG also have a base here and they have an Grumman Albatross as a gate guardian registered 1023,also seen flying were C130's 1715,1718 and 1719 and Sikorsky Jayhawk 6008.
Next stop was Sarasota,a very nice regional airport with a small airliner presence which included an American Eagle CRJ900 N554NN,logged here were 26 biz and the only non N reg one was a Westwin HK-2485G,two other interesting aircraft were logged N313CL Aero L.39 Albatross and N223ML Mig 23.
Heading further south we called in at Punta Gorda, this place appears to be on the up as several new hangars had appeared since our last visit, like St Petersburg,Allegiant have a base here and noted were 5 MD80's N409NV,N865GA,N866GA,N877GA and N879GA.No biz were seen at all and the only non N reg aircraft seen was C-GLER PA-46 Malibu Meridian. Two DC3's were logged N8WJ and N12BA along with 3 North American T.28 Trojans N89AW,N9102Z and one sticking out of the hangar coded "378" but thanks to zz's excellent photo log from Oshkosh I have now been able to tie this up.
Next stop was Lehigh Acres home of the Mosquito Control Squadron, however by the time we had arrived they had packed up for the day so we had to be happy with the two derelict DC3's that were visible N341W and N837M.
Last stop of the day was Fort Myers/Florida Southwest International, again quite busy with airliner traffic and a total of 8 N reg biz were noted,in the small cargo area were two B757's N468UP of UPS and N928FD of FedEx.
Part 3 to follow.
