Today Sunday 8th February we thought that it was about time that we visited Miami which although dominated by American has a fantastic selection of Central and South American visitors and also has a decent amount of biz jet movements as well as many cargo flights.Another thing about visiting on a Sunday is that it is very easy to get amongst many cargo operators aprons, the biz jet area and various hangars without drawing too much attention to yourself. The other bonus on this day was that they were landing towards the ocean so we positioned ourselves at the El Delrado furniture store which is at the threshold of runway 5R,however make sure to NOT to park in their car park as they get very annoyed and will call the police but park on the main road which is a dead end and can easily hold many vehicles.
Firstly we called into Fort Lauderdale Hollywood to see what this mornings TAME was but it was the same as yesterday (HC-CID) but another 11 biz went into the book but only one non N reg example was noted:
M-ABGG Challenger 604
We then continue down to Miami and had to take a different route as the Interstate 95 was closed halfway down to Miami.
A total of 31 biz hit the book of which 7 were non N reg:
D-AJJK Gulfstream 550
VP-CPH Beechjet 400A
VP-CKS Airbus A319CJ
VQ-BZZ Falcon 900
XA-DVH Beechjet 400XP
XA-EAJ Gulfstream 550
XA-LLA Challenger 300
Despite the huge presence of American, the variety at Miami is brilliant and I think to list everything here would take ages however I have picked out stuff that I found interesting:
Miami does have a cruise ship terminal and 4 Canadian airliners arrived for this purpose
C-FFNC B737 First Air
C-GCNO/GCNU and GCNZ B737's Canadian North
Other highlights included
CP-2881 B767 Boliviana
PR-ABD B767F ABSA
PR-GUP B737 GOL
Outside the hangars getting some TLC were:
N989PG MD83 PAWA (Dominican Republic)
YV2556 B737 Conviasa
On the plus side with American,a lot of the American Eagle E145 flights are being replaced with E170's and as the B757's are gradually being withdrawn they are being replaced with A319's and A321's.
Also seen flying were two MD11F's in an all white scheme N435KD and N453JN.
Despite having been to Miami on many occasions I still wrote down 214 aircraft.
Part 8 to follow.
