Right lets kick this section off, we aren't really sure how this will develop so any feedback would be appreciated, Obviously these 2 bases are quite straight forward and viewing locations from outside are well covered on the internet, I'm sure some will have much more complex road trips to report on.
With a few days booked off I decided to stay for a night in Suffolk thus meaning 2 half day and a whole day in the area, we left Farnborough at 13.00 and arrived in Johns Field at 15,30, After depositing my £1 in the honesty box I made my way to the main car park, views are great no matter what way they are taking off. There are also plenty of OTT if your blessed with blue skies. We overnighted at the Brandon hotel www.brandonhousehotel.co.uk/ which cost £69 for 2 including breakfast which was rather large, the hotel also offers a great restaurant with huge serving and a well stocked bar, rooms were big and airy but had no views of Lakenheath. Talking of which Lakenheath's viewing area is a mere 5 mins drive away from hotel and I stopped on passing each day en route Johns field.
I did go previously to Mildenhall where I stayed www.thewillowscampsite.co.uk/ in a tent, this campsite is literally at the end of Mildenhalls runway and they even have a raised wooden viewing area on site to look over the fence, if you don't have all the camping kit the site now offers the rental of a pod ( basically a fancy shed with electrics ! lol) you need to bring a bed and bedding though, prices vary depending on what you want or need from the site.
