No beach under the final approach on Skiathos but still very close indeed, plus it has a very short 1,600m runway. Flew out of there a few years ago, the departing aircraft don't have enough runway to take a full fuel load so they get airborne and then put down at Thessalonica to fuel up properly.

From the mists, believe my experience was by a Sabre Airways (!!) 737 back in the late 1990s.
No real dramas from what I can remember - only thing was that the homeward flight was delayed by 4 hours, so we just left our luggage at check-in, walked (!) the short distance back to the town cafe and waited for our aircraft to thunder through the lagoon area seemingly at eye level to our table. A short walk and back to the airport with no security issues.... Those were definitely the days 🛩👍

Some of the Greek island airports are so small, we went to Lesvos in 2012, the airport at Mytiline is tiny, the "terminal" can just about accommodate the passengers for a single flight, so they actually ask you to leave the building after you've checked in, and walk to the taverna a couple of hundred yards down the road while you wait for the flight to be called. Monarch were having severe tech issues with one of their 757s that summer, our flight back to LGW was OK but the weekly MAN flight was delayed by about 13 hours.
