Friday 21st April 2017
Departed the caravan storage place at 10.02 and had a good run up, arriving at about 14.50. Only problem was a large tailback at the "Black Cat" roundabout (A1/A421 junction) and another tailback at Caxton Gibbet roundabout (A428/A1198).
Had just finished setting up when Mark ("bizfreeq") and pal banged on the door. Good to meet you, mate.
Sadly, two I needed from overnight (KC-135R 59-1446 and MC-130J 14-5795) had departed , but the Raptors were still there.
I'm not doing the round trip today, so visitors noted here were:-
07-4149/AK F-22A 525FS/3WG 07-4150/AK F-22A 525FS/3WG 60-0358 KC-135R 108ARS/Illinois ANG 59-1450 KC-135R 197ARS/Arizona ANG 57-1435 KC-135R 191ARS/Utah ANG 57-1430 KC-135R 133ARS/New Hampshire ANG 64-14847/OF bk RC-135U 55WG 62-4139/OF bl RC-135W 55WG 165810/BH KC-130J VMGR-252.......arrived back at 18.12 from "local" sortie (including "the Mach Loop") and departed at 19.28 Southbound as "BRNCO65"
Looks like more Raptors in tomorrow (time unknown) and a departure on Sunday (NOTAM up) about 11.45BST.

Saturday 22nd April 2017
All gone quiet now, so I will catch up on the day's activity.
Three of the overnight KC-135s departed(all Eastbound):- 09.21 "RCH936" 57-1435 09.24 "RCH541" 60-0358 12.10 "RCH184" 59-1450
Today's arrivals were:- 09.32 "RCH723" 85-0004 C-5M 436AW..............."Dover" tailband 10.33 "RCH197" 77-1947 KC-10A 305AMW............."McGuire" tailband 11.23 "RCH938" 59-1453 KC-135R 153ARS/Mississippi ANG 13.45 "RCH320" 57-1486 KC-135R 153ARS/Mississippi ANG 16.08 "RCH976" 99-0059 C-17A 62AW................."McChord" tailband 16.41 "ROMA81" 62-3543 KC-135R 756ARS/AFRC......"Andrews" tailband
Based stuff noted:- CV-22B - 11-0058, 12-0063 plus 1 (on extreme left) MC-130Js - (SOG row rear to front) - 12-5759, 11-5731, 11-5737, 13-5778, 11-5733 KC-135R/T - 63-7999 (between SOG row and hangars), 58-0069 (by hangars on immediate right), 62-3559, 60-0324, 61-0267,61-0299 (between hangars and Folly Road) 58-0094 (Folly Road)
Somehow, I managed to fail to see "IAM1438" Italian KC-767A with 2 EF2000s which went almost directly OTT, not trailing. And the cloud position stopped me making "RCH331" C-17A 90-0534.
Today's F-22 arrivals turned back over the Middle East. Hopefully will try again tomorrow.
Total made = zilch.

Sunday 23rd April 2017
A day of disappointment turning into pleasure.
Arrivals:- 09.35 "RCH950" 63-8004 KC-135R 117ARS/Kansas ANG 09.58 "SHUCK82" 82-0006/OK E-3C 55WG
Then a string of departures:- 09.51 "RCH976" 99-0059 C-17A 10.53 "RCH723" 85-0004 C-5M 11.11 "RCH966" 57-1430 KC-135R 12.04 "TABOR13" 07-4149/AK F-22A 12.04 "TABOR14" 07-4150/AK F-22A 12.07 "RCH320" 57-1486 KC-135R 12.07 "RCH938" 59-1453 KC-135R 13.35 "SHUCK82" 82-0006/OK E-3C
There now followed a long period of waiting for "BLUE73" (plus the Raptors) to appear on ADS-B. During this time the cloud conspired to prevent me seeing "TALON83"(?) P-8A 168762 which routed up TR1 and carried on out over the North Sea.
Then came the news that "BLUE73" and the Raptors had diverted into NAS Sigonella (Sicily). An immediate air of despondency settled over those of us remaining on John's Field. But........about 20.10 John himself came round those of us pitched up to say that the Raptors were on their way and arrival would be around 21.30.
21.35 "TABOR15" 04-4074/AK F-22A 3WG 21.35 "TABOR16" 06-4127/AK F-22A 3WG
All in all it turned out to be a satisfactory day.
Possible Hickam KC-135R in tomorrow.......wonder if it will be one of the two that I need.

Excellent ! Wish I'd been able to make another visit for the F.22s and F.35s!
Still no sign of the 4 LN Eagles I need. They seem very elusive - perhaps in the US.

I see you got some interesting French Mildenhall visitors yesterday. Some nice photos on FC.

Wednesday 26th April 2017
Rather a mixed bag weather-wise today, consisting of some sunshine and a lot of showers - some heavy and some hail. Afternoon activity at Lakenheath was cancelled because of adverse weather.
Lakenheath Didn't go and stayed in caravan.
Low cloud meant that I couldn't see any of the 1st morning sortie, nor the take-offs for the 2nd morning sortie. However, things brightened up a bit around 11.00 and they changed runway to 06. First movement on 06 was the Norwegians (who may well have come to play with the F-35s).

Saturday 29th April 2017
Fairly typical slack Saturday. The Caracals departed with support provided by a different Transall
Mildenhall Arrivals 09.59 "RCH327" 57-1439 KC-135R 6AMW 11.24 "HKY854" 07-8613/RS C-130J 37AS 11.32 "CTM2042" R217/64-GQ Transall
Departures 08.58 "E10E2" 63-7999...........don't often get a based '135 doing an "EVAC" mission. 10.37 "CTM1335" 2802/SK 10.37 "CTM1334" 2788/SI 12.?? "BLUE42" 60-0342 12.44 "HKY854" 07-8613/RS 13.13 "CTM2042" R217/64-GQ
Before it clouded over this morning, a very welcome trailing "RCH1818" C-17A 10-0222 routed DIKAS (@ 10.24) > MAM and disappeared into cloud somewhere about Chatteris.
Beautiful blue skies now as I type (19.30), but nothing going over. Earlier, the cloud stopped me seeing the two JASDF 747s out of Heathrow.
The other visiting KC-135R 64-14836 is in the fuel cell - tail sticking out. Visible from the South side in the last "hangar" on the left of the complex around the West Row gate.

"LION465" 07-8614/RS 20.02 "RCH149" 10-0218
Lakenheath
Not a lot going on. A few F-15C/Ds flew some missions, plus 6 F-35As.
"BRK30" C-17 01 departed at 09.35 and arrived back at 22.20.
Apparently the 494FS is going to deploy very soon and the NATO C-17s have been taking their "stuff" out to wherever it is. Lakenheath is going to be rather dead with them gone.

No such luck, Bob. It's going to Ramstein to join '95 and possibly '96. Not certain if '96 is still there - both took off this morning Eastbound and '95 certainly returned, but I missed seeing if '96 did as well.
Love your avatar - those were the days.

Don't know where Bob ("mrbluesky") gets his "feelings" from. Didn't happen.
Friday 5th May 2017
Two C-5s going overhead persuaded me to get up this morning - I should have stayed in bed!! LOL
Lakenheath
Apparently the F-15Cs did some flying this morning, not that any of the returning ones did the long approach over John's Field.

Arrival 08.10 "RCH391" 86-0013 C-5M 436AW.....again

Departure 19.30 "RCH237" 10-0216
Yet another blank day. Not even the morning blue skies yielded anything to see, let alone make.
Total made at this point = 42. Really shouldn't grumble though, should I??
