Hi all,
I read elsewhere a couple of days ago that the mortal remains of Lynx XZ181 is visible on the dump at Middle Wallop. Its on its side, missing its nose and tail, with yellow skis. I've never located the dump at Wallop, presumably its on the south side somewhere, so could anyone please enlighten me where it can be viewed from?
Thanks,
DC

Hi
I'm not sure about XZ181, but a couple of years ago I did find another Lynx dumped at Middle Wallop. (I think it was XZ672)
Kentsboro Road runs past the east end of the airfield. If you head south on that, then right onto Gerrard's Lane, this runs along the southern perimeter.
Eventually, near the western end, on your right hand side is where the Lynx was dumped. So you may find XZ181 there...?
Hope this helps

Ok thanks guys, I'll have a look and report back probably next week.
I'm going to stop by Boscombe too, as this report mentioned that a few JARTS airframes are visible around the HAS area.

Slightly overdue follow up:
Today (9th July 17) on the way back from Yeovilton I stopped at Boscombe and saw the following with JARTS:
XS180 Jet Provost T4 XS646 Andover C1 nose XZ209 Lynx AH7 ZF622 Navajo
Then onto the dump at Middle Wallop:
XZ181 Lynx AH1 XZ672 Lynx AH7
These two frames are next to the wind sock at the south west corner of the field. XZ181 is on its side, with yellow skids, and is just east of XZ672 which is easily visible from the country lane.

Thanks DC, Demobbed website shows a picture of XZ646 Lynx cab at BD in June 2017 as well, I presume that has gone?

Hi Andover,
I couldn't see that Lynx cab from my vantage point, which was by the Blue crash gate, at 51.152044 -1.760046. The view is restricted though and it could have easily been hidden by some other junk / trees.
There was a tractor working the field between the crash gate and the JARTS area, otherwise I may have been braver and walked around the fence!

Dicanio or anyone
Can anybody give me co-ords to view the dump at Middle Wallop? Will be there in a couple of weeks time and require these two airframes on the dump. A quick look on Google street maps I can't locate where to view them without leaving the car unattended.
Cheers

This may or may not be the correct place- it’s where I found a Lynx cab a few years back, and if you zoom in, you can see it looks like a dump. Kentsboro Road runs past the east end of the airfield. If you head south on that, then right onto Gerrard's Lane, this runs along the southern perimeter. Follow all the way to the southwest corner of the airfield and you’ll be at the dropped pin in the picture above. It’s a country lane, and from recollection, there are places to pull over onto the verge. Try 51.1333 -1.5659

Thanks ZZ I did try and use Googlemaps to view that but didn't look like you could view the dump. I will give it a go in 2 weeks time and see how I get on
