Preserved around the base;
XT623 Scout AH1 XZ170 Lynx AH7/9 TAD011 Lynx AH7 CIM - Purpose built trainer.
These airframes were used for various instructional purposes.
TAD009 & TAD012 Lynx AH7 CIMS were missing from our visit, possibly also scattered around the airfield. We couldn't access the far side due to training. This was not a problem, as they're not real!

That's a great list with several I need there Russ, and Lyneham is right on my doorstep. How did you arrange the tour please?

This is interesting.
At the beginning of the year I tried to arrange a visit for AFA - I got a reply saying they would try and accommodate us, asking when we wanted to come, and how many of us there would be. I replied to their e-mail, got no response, replied again a couple of months later but still got no reply!
Having seen that visits are happening, I'll try again...!

For those of us who went to Lyneham last year as a group. a friend who visited recently reckons that one of the two unidentified helis at the Bradenstoke end of the main runway wears "TAD007". Maybe based on this, it also has an "official" military serial?
