After the sad demise of Monarch, it started me thinking about the airlines I have flown with that are no longer with us. I was surprised to see how many there were and I have listed them below. I'm sure there must be many members, especially the older ones amongst us, who have flown on some great old airlines so why not post them here.
British airlines
Caledonian and later British Caledonian Skyways Coach Air Dan Air B E A Monarch Northeast British Island Airways Laker Air Europe Air2000 Air UK British Midland Airworld Buzz Airtours My Travel American airlines
Eastern Air Florida Chalks Continental Northwest
Others
Aer Turas Mexicana Caribbean Star Sky Europe Wizz

BOAC Eagle/Cunard Eagle
Pan American Trans World National................remember the "I'm (........), Fly Me" advert?........which resulted in the 10cc song Seaboard World Flying Tiger
Sabena Swissair VARIG...................anyone remember the Connie in MCR for the 1966 World Cup? Panair do Brasil Ghana Airways East African Trans Canada Transair Sweden VIASA

Quick top of my head, some Brit airlines flown but not mentioned so far, sure there must be others:
Court Line Britannia Airways Janus Airways
Overseas airlines, there must be plenty, VLM springs immediately to mind, as does Olympic, and Braathens SAFE. With Monarch in mind, in '94 I was in Asuncion, Paraguay due to fly out on their national carrier LAP when word came through it had ceased operations. It took a couple of days to find another flight out via Bolivia to Colombia, can't remember who with and I wasn't keeping any records at that time.

My first holiday abroad was a short while after I left school in 1976. We flew from Gatwick to Vancouver on CP Air DC8 CF-CPT. We then had an internal flight on a Pacific Western B737. I do know that Pacific Western was one of those domestic Canadian carriers that joined together to form 'Canadian Airlines International'. What was the fate of CP Air?

In 1981 we had a family holiday to Canada and flew Wardair from LGW - YYZ on B747 C-FDJC. We returned a few weeks later on DC-10 C-GXRB. Ten years later my late father & I flew LHR - INV & back a few days later on Dan Air B737 G-BKNH. Also in 1991 I joined my late parents out in Canada, flying with Nationair from Gatwick on B747 C-FFUN and returning a few weeks later on C-FDJC, of course, that was my second flight on this one! Another ten years on, my late parents & I flew from Gatwick to Malaga on Britannia's B757 G-BYAE & returned a week later on G-BYAY. Later on in 2001, a mate & I had a few days spotting in Brussels. We flew from LHR on Virgin Express B737 OO-LTP and returned on OO-VEX.
