I saw most of what is in your shots at Manchester over the years. Like the SAS Caravelle, they used to fly over my house going to Manchester from Dublin.

I grew up within one mile of the Manchester Airport runway and incoming flights flew in front of our house. I spent many hours on the airport viewing terraces and by the black hangars where Runway 2 is now, also another good spotting area was by the old Jackson's brickworks? A lot of time was spent at the top of Shadowmoss Road at the start of the original runway. Les

Used to catch the 44 bus to the Airport in the late sixties, many happy days on the terraces and the piers. Your photos seem to be slightly later than my visits though the SAS Caravelle was a familiar site. Thanks for sharing

Andrew Just thinking of the number 44 bus,it used to go past Freddie Garrity's (of Freddie and the Dreamers) house in Gatley. Les

Telford What a lot of memories have come back with those pictures, can even see the farm I was born at in a couple. Jacksons brick yard, how was that chimney allowed to be built so close to a runway.

I now know that there is more than myself that "grew up" at Manchester Airport on the AFA site. Les

I'm a southerner but these remind me of Gatwick back in the day

Love the (lack of) hi-viz of the two blokes meandering across the apron in the first photo. I have very similar photos somewhere from my days on the terrace up there.
