Good morning I have just returned from a trip to Taiwan, Australia and Hong Kong. It was for a family holiday and wedding. So basically a non spotting trip but having taken 10 flights during the trip I did a rather lot of logging at the relevant airports. I will post a log of what was seen when I have compiled them, however in the mean time here are a few photos from Taiwan and Australia. For your info the photographs were taken with my I Phone as I don’t usually take piccies and some were taken through glass, however it is a rough guide to what I saw over the last month. The quality is not great Regards Mick Taichung International Taiwan image by Mick Childs, on Flickr Our ride to Hong Kong image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr Songshan Airport Taipei Taiwan image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr Campaign Memorial Park Taichung, Taiwan image by Mick Childs, on Flickr image by Mick Childs, on Flickr

Excellent, thanks for posting. Like the F104 Graham GTF4J2M Those of us who visited Luke AFB in Arizona prior to 1983 would have seen this particular F104 as she was delivered to the German AF back in 1963 but was assigned to the German training unit at Luke. She never wore her German serial 27+69 but retained her USAF serial until sold to Taiwan in 1983. She was all silver with USAF star and bar so indistinguishable from her real USAF counterparts. Never did graph her there though. She was originally intended for preservation in a park in Chichi, Taiwan but the area was devastated by an earthquake and she ended up instead at Campaign Memorial Park in Taichung. When Germany began replacing the 104s with Phantoms the German training unit moved to George AFB (now the storage base re-named Victorville) and again the Phantoms also only carried their USAF serials but did have the German flag colours on the fin tips as per this one I photographed at George in 1990. When that unit closed this Phantom was returned to Germany as a ground trainer at Neuberg before meeting the axe man in 2009. The German Tornado training unit was then formed at Holloman, New Mexico (with two surprisingly ending their days in AMARC). All nice sunny places with little of the weather that would have disrupted training in Europe. Great to see the 104 looking so good & thanks for posting and reviving some memories. 90a-de by dave tompkins, on Flickr
