I've been a lurker here pretty much since this forum was set up (I co-mod a non-aviation Proboards forum) and will probably continue to be a lurker!
Interested in mostly commercial aviation, I live in south London and have a daily display of traffic into Heathrow and London City (when the wind is right!) plus helicopters and other aviation passing pretty well overhead at high and low level so really have no need to venture far from home for my aviation 'hit'!

A very warm welcome to you foxfire, great to see that a long time "lurker" has signed up with us here...;0). If you've been here since the start, you'll know we have a great, friendly forum here that started in January 2015 following the demise of the old Farnborough forum. I'm sure there are some familiar names here that you might recognise. Anyway, many thanks for joining us.

Thanks for your welcome, Graham!
If anyone wonders why that elegant VC10 tail is gracing my avi, it's G-ASGC, the very first aircraft I flew on, courtesy of Ian Allen Travel who used to organise one hour pleasure flights on various airliners, erm, quite a long time ago! As I'm sure you all know, this beautiful aircraft is now residing at Duxford and was recently seen taking part in an advert for Heathrow.

Hi Foxfire,
Yeah, the VC-10 was one of our finest. Always wondered why she didn’t generate more interest and greater sales during her heyday.
Sadly I never got to fly on the 10, but did manage several on the 707 and the DC-8 (stretched version), so can’t offer a comparison but I would imagine the 10 had some significant noise advantages in flight... But I’ll never know....
Anyway, welcome onboard AFA, hope you enjoy our site and please feel free to post anything Aviation. Your Avi caught my eye when you joined as we almost bought a house, about 12 years ago, which was called Foxfire, near Foxhill’s country club....
Glad to have you on-board...
Bill
