So, yes, autumn break time up here again - just in time for the Saudis. In fact, I had only just got the laptop fired up when their tanker showed up off the N of Ireland.

The rather nice Scott AFB (IL) based C-21A should be swapping over "out East" with one coming back in about a week. Whether that one will go through the 'Hall is another matter.
The Sentry, I'm afraid, is slack - no excuse except that I haven't been to Waddington since the Vulcan days. Only need the "dismantled" one now.
Saudis should be leaving tomorrow morning, presumably with initial tanking by Mildenhall before meeting their KC-10 (out of Rota) over the Med.

A trip down here to get the lovely white Danish Challenger (the other three are a dark grey), which was bringing in the crew for the C-130 that was being delivered out of Marshalls after maintenance.
Sadly neither that C-130 (B-536, not needed) nor the Qatari (214/MAK, needed) were outside yet at the time of my visit. Both subsequently departed, but the Qatari returned with a problem.

The "ROMA" KC-10 is to drag the DC ANG F-16s back to the US from their deployment to Lask AB, Poland.

Hi AM,
It has been flight checking Lakenheath's ILS/TACAN etc. most of today (Tuesday). It has just departed (16:55BST) heading up the East coast. It is very much the common one over in Europe.
Thanks for the correction. I typed without thinking...….oops!!

Clouds didn't clear quite quickly enough for me to make "RCH239" much needed C-5M 87-0029 routing NAVPI > MAM > GITUS this morning. Plenty of rain later.
We were going to get a low approach from "DRAGON02" U-2S 80-1080, but he was running short on fuel, so went direct to Fairford. :grr: :grr:

Wednesday 2nd October 2019
I was just getting up when the KC-135RT arrived. I saw it on ADS-B last evening and was hoping that it would come in.
Mildenhall Arrivals 06:58BST "RCH678" 60-0362 KC-135RT 22ARW...………...my last KC-135RT (of the eight)!! 08:16BST "RCH614" 57-1459 KC-135R 336ARS/AFRC 14:32BST "RCH138" 84-0192 KC-10A 305AMW 14:35BST "N334CA" N334CA Be350 14:44BST "GTI8483" N412MC B744F Atlas Air
Departures 09:17BST "RCH782" 61-0313...………….the old "NACHO" 11:05BST "OLIVE56" 62-4132/OF 11:16BST "AXIS41" 73-1585/DM 12:46BST "DAF6681" C-215 18:04BST "RCH138" 84-0192 18:13BST "GTI8483" N412MC
The eight KC-135RTs (58-0011/0018/0124/0126, 60-0356/0357/0362, 61-0293) were previously EC-135As or RC-135Ds that have been (de-)converted back to a tanker role. They are themselves capable of being refuelled, unlike any other KC-135s. All are operated by 22ARW at McConnell AFB, KS and are specifically used in the tanking role for Special Operations aircraft. There are normally one or two of them stationed "out East" (currently one) and they rotate every 2 months or so.
The Beech 350 is obviously up to some shady business!!
"MO" F-15s tomorrow - if all goes to plan.

Thanks for the 135RT info Bob, prompted me to take a look on PlaneBase to see I've only seen one of them, 60-0356 back in 2016, presumably on her way in or out of Mildenhall. Looking at the aircraft listed as resident at McConnell, they have a big selection of preserved aircraft around the base including a B-47, a type I have never seen.

Yes, interesting about the 135RT. I also only have one, in my case 80011, but I only get to the Hall about once a year.

Have managed to see all of the 135RTs in various forms over the years. Showing my age (and that of the photo) here is one of them, 00362, which was then an RC135D and which I took at Upper Heyford back in early 1968. Image27 (2) by dave tompkins, on Flickr

Checking my Military Markings and I am a bit lightweight as well Bob, have only seen 3 KC135RT's these being 80011, 00356 & 00362- nearly 50%

Very, very nice, Dave.
Unfortunately, I didn't get into visiting the USAF bases until 1976, so I missed all the really classic stuff.
Ignoring the Air Tattoos at Greenham in 1973/74, I did see a KB-50, B-66 and T-33 at Biggin Hill BoB 1962 and a couple of F-102s (plus a Dutch F-84) at RAF Geilenkirchen on a cadet camp in 1965.
Of course, one cannot forget the various MATS/MAC KC/C-97s, C-121s, C-123s, C-124s, C-133s, C-135s, C-141s, C-5s on overflight on UG1/G1.

Should point out that the fairly recently converted 65-0967 lacks quite a bit of the electronics stuff and is used as a crew trainer. Although quoted as being an EC-130H, it is really only a TC-130H. Never managed to see it as a WC-130H.

Thanks Bob, no worries, was going to come for the F-15s anyway. Paid a flying visit this morning- unfortunately arrived 15 mins too late and missed the first lot of F-15s! However, I was slightly helped by them mixing the two batches of aircraft- I would have only needed 3 of the second batch of arrivals. Because the departures were a mixture of the 2 arrival groups, I made 4 of the 5 MO that were still there when I arrived. I also finally caught up with one of the based F-15s that I need (00-3000) so it was worth the visit.
The French KC-135 was also a pot!
A few to look out for when they return in 6 months!
Cheers
