Thanks Trevor, certainly an Easter to remember for all the wrong reasons. Just nipped into town for a bottle of wine, lots of people on the green here, sat on rugs, playing with the kids a few feet away from the next family. I fully understand people getting stir crazy but I also wonder what they fail to grasp about the need to contain this awful virus.

Rather lean skies over Wiltshire this past few days but at least the glorious weather has made up for the lack of traffic. A couple of scrapes on the 9th in the shape of A330 B-LHA and GLEX N94FX On the 9th I potted my final Etihad B777 A6-DDF as she sailed past on her way to Frankfurt. E35L XA-FUF was a very good addition to the logs and then yesterday, two frames in the shape of BE20 LX-FPP which seems to have been doing survey work and Qatari AF C-17 MAP outbound from STN. I had already seen MAN back in 2016. The good lady did however put my services to good work, we have a 20ft section of garden beyond the shed and greenhouse which had become full of brambles, weeds and general garden rubbish so I got stuck into it yesterday morning. After four hours I had removed most of the brambles, some of which had stems an inch and a half wide and had also removed most of the skin on my arms and legs. But the long lost polytunnel was revealed in all its glory along with, unfortunately, a couple of snapped fence posts and accompanying panels from the gales a couple of months ago. But brambles = blackberries!

Happy Easter all Hope everyone well
The current situation has allowed me to catch up on my logging in the last few weeks. Still only got up to 27/05/18 but have just reached a milestone...
On that date, at Malaga, I reached 100,000 registrations/serials.
Just another 22 and a half months to go...
Cheers

Hi Phil, 100,000, that's phenomenal, is that frames or registrations/scrapes?
RR, this bramble hasn't produced anything edible in the four years since it started getting out of control. We have lots of wild birds around here who seem to strip the bramble clean within a short time of the berries ripening. The polytunnel frame was in one piece but the cover was knackered unfortunately. The other half did her back in a few years ago and since then, she's been unable to work at ground level which is why that part of the garden went to rack and ruin. The idea now though is to put some raised beds up there but until the household recycling centres reopen so we can take all the stuff we don't need up there, plus 2 x one tonne builders' bags full of brambles, there won't be much more happening.
But at least it'll allow my raw legs to heal...;0)

My local rugby club has 1 pitch surrounded by brambles, and I pick and freeze enough to last me until the next year’s crop. Strong gloves and secateurs are essential, and long trousers, not shorts! This strange season is seeing an average daily log of about 3, but with unusual visitors to LHR and LGW, quality rather than quantity. cheers Phil/RR

Hi Phil, 100,000, that's phenomenal, is that frames or registrations/scrapes? Hi Graham thats registrations/ scrapes. Sadly I’ve no way of knowing how many frames as I type them up into logs by country. I did consider moving them into a database but it’s too much to do. Certain types it’s easy to count how many frames I’ve seen- eg. if I want to know how many B52s I’ve seen, then I obviously only need to look at one place in my US military log. But i could never know, for example, how many 737s, Cessna types... I’ve seen because they could appear anywhere, in any country log and be a scrape any number of times... But what I am able to tell is how many civil or military registrations/serials from each country I have. eg 26118 G-

Thanks ZZ, that's still a massive total, I transferred everything across to PlaneBase a couple of years ago, a huge job but now it's done, I have all those totals at my fingertips. I know you're a big museum fan but I take it you've taken a fair few foreign jaunts over the years to amass a total like that?
My dear old Mum found a load of my old logs from the 70's a few years ago but there's still a big gap of many years in my logs that I will never recover. In the 80's, 90's and early 00's I wasn't a spotter as such but still attended a lot of airshows, both home and abroad. Some of those logs have been found, but most sadly have probably been lost forever.
Thanks Phil/RR, I appreciate that trousers are always the best option when cutting brambles but it was a couple of very warm days. Funnily enough, I didn't realise I'd scagged my legs that much until I'd finished, went indoors and the missus asked who had attacked me!

Three in the book for yesterday:
N91JS Gulfstream G450 HZ-AK34 B777 Saudia (JED-LHR) G-ERFX Legacy 600 (inbound Farnborough)
it's a bittersweet day today because if it wasn't for this bloody virus I would now be @ Gatwick waiting to board a China Eastern A330 to fly to Shanghai-Pudong for a 5 hour layover before flying on a China Eastern B737-800 to Tokyo to start a 16 day tour of Japan.Oh well there is always next year.

Such a great shame Dave, we have had a week in Bude at the end of April cancelled and the booking agents Holiday Cottages are refusing to refund our money. They've offered us a rebook later this year which we can't do or a voucher we can use to book another week in 2021 as long as we book by the end of this year which we also can't do. They told us that as we had cancelled, which is not the case, then they are entitled to withold a" significant" percentage of the £500 we've paid. So some bastard gets rich on our money for doing sfa. We've used them before so I've told them it's a full refund or we will never book with them again and will ensure that all our friends don't either. It does really boil my p*** when people try to screw you over in situations like this.

We were lucky Graham in that China Eastern cancelled the flights so we will get a full refund,at the time of the cancellation we had only booked the first two nights in Tokyo and the last two nights in Okinawa which we will get our money back.We hadn't gotten around to booking the internal flights.I've only been to Japan once and that was in 2004 so was really looking forward to making a shed load whilst we were out there.

If not, threaten to sue via small claims court, and that process is cheap and easy.

Thanks Phil, I paid the deposit on a CC and the balance on my debit card. Let's see what they come back with, they obviously don't want to refund the money, they've made that clear. Probably already spent it.....

Graham,
Was It Holidaycottages.co.uk ?
if so refer them to 7.1 of their Booking terms & conditions, if they reply that this clause does not apply, tell them that you will challenge them in the small claims court, and a court will almost certainly uphold this
Cheers
Adrian
PS:- The law states that you are entitled to a full refund, not a re-book or a discount on future bookings....

Hi Adrian, yes it was. Thanks for the T & C's, I can understand that they "might" withhold some monies if we had cancelled, especially as it was only 6 weeks from the start of the holiday but it was they who cancelled by way of an email about three weeks ago. OK, the current situation is no more their fault that mine but they cancelled, I emailed back to say we couldn't rebook due to various circumstances and that I therefore wanted a refund. They then replied again to say that I had cancelled. So, they are definitely trying it on.

After a very slow start to yesterday,it turned out pretty good thanks mainly to Heathrow being on 09's,shame I couldn't see the China Southern A380 (B-6136) which came in via the north as usual:
N12010 B787-10 United (EWR-FRA & FRA-EWR) G-GMAH Eurocopter 145 HZ-AK33 B777 Saudia (JED-LHR) HB-GLA Beech King Air 200 (survey work) 5B-DCW A319 Cyprus (LCA-LHR) D-AINO A320NEO Lufthansa (FRA-LHR,too close to the Cyprus in front of it,carried out a missed approached and came in via the south which enabled me to see it) HZ-AK31 B777 Saudia (RUH-LHR)
EDIT Should have added that private B767 VP-BKS was also noted inbound Heathrow but this was not needed.

Poor pickings yesterday. Just one bizz into Biggin Hill. Didn’t need the China Southern, having seen all their 380s in Sydney. Hoping for the Singapore 350 on departure this morning if it follows usual path and this mist burns off.
