Well, Dudley and Eunice have been and gone, but they were soon followed by Franklin who continued where his siblings left off and caused a fair bit of trouble in town including bringing down an huge old oak tree along London Road, which in turn brought down some power lines meaning the road was closed all day causing massive traffic delays. All clear this morning although Franklin is still blowing hard.
One frame and one scrape yesterday, the Chinese Global came out of DUB, watched her on VR head towards the far west of Wales where she then performed a 90 degree turn to port and sailed right over me at home.

Two yesterday morning whilst there was a little bit of blue,it didn't last long but not all doom & gloom as Reading won away @ Preston although they did try hard to throw away a three goal lead. N156QS Global Express 6000 (inbound Farnborough) VP-CKV Gulfstream G650ER (inbound Farnborough) Nice little win at Preston for the Royals Dave, normal service resumed for my blue boys yesterday at Saints, might be playing you next season mate. Happy Days Bob Nothing in terms of numbers for me yesterday, although I was in attendance at the game - Everton looked very dire most of the game, very strange considering the talent you guys have with the likes of Richarlison and of course the new midfielders. Best of luck for the rest of the season mate. In terms of numbers, we're looking like a 0 until Friday when the sun is due to reappear but you never know!! Forgot to mention Shane Long, I believe that's his first PL Goal since 2020!!

Thanks Dylan- I think that the majority of fans who attended the game, said Everton were dire, which was a shock after the performance last week against Leeds, they need to show a bit of consistency- they won the game against Brentford in the cup then got beat by Newcastle, then beat Leeds and then got beat by the Saints. Not going to get any easier this week as we have Man City at Home- don't think they will lose two on the bounce. Also did not help the cause with Burnley and Watford winning away from home. Happy Days Bob

Two more entered the book on Sunday night bringing the total for the storm ridden week to a big fat 5 :- SP-RZD- 737-8MAX Buzz inbound LPL SP-RZK- 737-8MAX Buzz inbound LPL Then Storm Franklin started and was imo the worse of the three for us up here in Cheshire, got blown around the yard in work this morning- but it has died down now, so maybe be able to put my garden furniture out again from the garage. Another crap day yesterday weather wise but two did enter the book,to be fair it wasn't very busy as the majority of the stuff either went far north or across the south coast but it keeps the logbook ticking over.

You boys talking about/enjoying your retirement, I received a letter from DWP in November to say that as from 27th February 2022, I too would be eligible for my state pension. I still intend working for another couple of years, at the end of it I'm fit and healthy, I enjoy my job, the money's always welcome and the bunce of the state pension, albeit taxable, plus no longer having to pay NI from 27th Feb, means a decent nest egg over the next two years.
But where have those years gone? I remember as a 17 year old leaving school to take up my first full time job as a tyre fitter at a local garage. I passed my driving test shortly after and I remember looking at the old paper license as was issued back then that told me it expired on 27th February 2021, my 65th birthday. That seemed so far in the future for a 17 year old as to be incomprehensible but there it went a year ago. Looking forward as a 17 year old, it seemed a lifetime distant, looking back as an almost 66 year old, it seems like the blink of an eye.

Think I retired (albeit on medical grounds) at just the right time, paid off the mortage and now take home more money than when I was working fulltime.
Anyway onto yesterday's offerings which are not much due to the weather.

Indeed Bob, they've already lowered my PAYE code right down, I had the letter earlier this week. It's pointless IMHO delaying taking your state pension once you're eligible, yes, if you defer it, they increase it by a few extra quid a year until you're ready to take it but it doesn't compensate for say the two years you decide to take it when you're still working. I regularly pay in excess of £500 a month NI so that will stop once I'm 66 in a few days time and will be like having a huge salary increase.

Graham, I worked out the drop in my tax code, and it was spot on taking into account the tax you pay on your pension - as far as not taking your pension mate- I thought about that but decided to take it straight away, as you don't know what little hand grenade is waiting for you around the corner. Especially with this government. Always remember you have paid your contributions and deserve something out of it. Happy Days Bob

Hi Bob, I will be taking my state pension as soon as I'm eligible, a friend who's a few years older than me decided NOT to take it right away, deferred it for two years, his monthly payment when he did eventually take it went up by a tenner or something, yet he'd lost out on two full years' payments which totalled over £18k so it's a no brainer to take it right away.
I also have a couple of decent private pensions that will stay where they are until I do hang up the clogs so they "should" continue to grow a bit until I'm ready to retire.
