Meteorologically and astronomically, we are now into Autumn after one of the hottest summers on record. Kids go back to school, central heating, assuming you can afford to put it on, kicks in to keep us warm as we get up, evenings close in and the supermarkets panic as they realise it's only four months until Christmas and they haven't yet put out their displays of Quality Street and Celebrations.
A quiet start to the month for me with a couple of frames, cool and overcast this morning but supposedly clearing up later. Fingers crossed for Popham tomorrow....

Off the mark on day one but the forecast for the next week or so is not great and I'm likely to be fairly busy so low expectations for the month, bit like the season ahead for the once mighty Villa. Still we'll have a spanking new stadium upgrade for the Rotherham and Preston fans to visit next year.

Must be LAA Rally day- weather has turned rubbish! Off to Popham now, conveniently only 15 mins down the road. Maybe see some of you there!

Hi Phil,
Sadly can’t get there today, tomorrow’s blocked for my visit. Be interested to hear how today goes for you.
Best of luck mate and hope it doesn’t rain too long…

You take it easy on that long drive Phil- unlike my 400 mile round trip tomorrow- still working out where else I am going to go with a 04:45 start weather forecast for Saturday seems to be dry all day (fingers crossed) but Sunday looks a bit of a mare. Deke keep the faith- re the Villa made a couple of half decent signings yesterday. But I think it is going to be a hard season. But in Frank we trust. With Jan still testing positive and due to head off to Torquay on Monday- we bit the bullet and cancelled our week away in Torquay thankfully we got our deposit back- looking on the bright side though the weather does not look too good for Torquay. So Popham will be my last trip out for the year. Happy Days Bob

Graham and Jeff, Viv, Mark, Deano, Kevin (marshalling in his hi-viz ‘Orange flying suit’ or as we call it; Overall’s, hopefully Jargon (who’s not responding to messages), I’m sure Big Dave Allum will be there too… I’ll be wearing some aviation gear - bright colours - so would be great to see you. Safe trip. Bill

I thought my first day of September was going to draw a 0… But wifey had a hair appointment over in Ottershaw so on the homeward trip I popped into Fairoaks, which saved my ‘pot a day’ campaign going… But only just!!
1st… Fairoaks.

Today’s not looking too good but we live in hope, but tomorrow at Popham should/normally yields a few 🤞
All the best chaps.

Hopefully Bill will be nice to meet up with some of the AFA there- I will be donning my Chicago Cubs Baseball cap as usual. I think Dave is heading to Cornwall tomorrow or today in fact. I'll be the one talking with a Merseyside Accent albeit I am a Hampshire born boy. Happy Days Bob

Logged about 270-odd today. Was there between 10am and 16.30 when it started to rain again. I figured that if anything arrived after that point they’d be there tomorrow. Not a huge amount and not a classic event at all, but quite a few interesting ones. Made 3 new Moths for example- can’t remember when that happened last! Back again tomorrow at about 10am but can’t stay too long as my son has a football tournament in the afternoon.

Likewise Graham, as I said to Bill I will be wearing my Chicago Cubs baseball cap and an update- a black Tee-Shirt with "I don't always stop and look at airplanes- Oh wait yes I do" on it and jeans. Hopefully will get there around 1pm and stay a couple of hours- will be visiting Luton, LAP, FAB and Blackbushe en route only a circuit of LAP- and Oxford on the way home and maybe Birmingham. But things can change. Happy Days Bob

Hopefully more tomorrow. Happy Days Bob

Today’s log on the Popham thread. Pay for airside access (or not if you’re a member- tenner for airside access all weekend, can’t complain!) at the entrance gate.
Layout was the biggest surprise- you’ll see tomorrow, but very different to microlight trade fair with nothing parked the other side of the runway today.

Morning Chaps,
Before the onslaught of LAA at Popham I thought I’d get September 2nd out of the way…
2nd - from home B-652L Falcon 7X (to LHR 13.42) sadly only a scrape
Popped over to FAB. Unfortunately VT-ISH was unseen… 9H-ARK Global 6500
Plenty of rain here overnight, but looks quite bright outside at the moment…
🤞 for a good day…

Friday we popped into the Lookout Cafe at Biggin Hill with the grandchildren, so I made G650s VH-LAL and A7-CGN. Then when at home I nipped outside to catch 2-YOLO SF50 take off, and fluked seeing C17 03-3122 trailing overhead. 9H-VIM completed the day’s activity. Happy with 5 on a day looking after the little ones.

Just got home guys and girls, did look out for everyone- at Popham did arrive a tad early at 10:50 and after viewing the few arrivals- decided to make my way home at about 13:05 I had left the house this morning at 04:20 oh my god that is early- and visited Cranfield, Luton, LAP, FAB and Blackbushe then onto Popham- think I saw the lad who was doing the marshalling in the back parking area. Then headed home via Oxford, where I got a good look around after asking at the security point. The heading home the M42 was closed by Birmingham so had to make a diversion via the M5 so got in ours at 17:20. The end of a long day. Sorry I missed you all- will have to wait till 2023 to meet up depending on where the Rally ends up. Happy Days Bob

Likewise Bill- lots of people there today- but sadly not lots of planes- I could not believe the amount of hangars that have appeared since my last visit. I made a few on my trip out which was very tiring- I said to Jan that I am not going to do another early start again, and in future if I go to an event- I will stay overnight somewhere. Hopefully see you and the other in 2023 as that's me for trips this year- and its just football and spotting from my den. Happy Days Bob

Morning Folks,
Didn’t think I’d make any yesterday but early evening the tide changed….
4th all from home
9H-TQP A330 Hi Fly (OTT 17.34, ops for TUI repositioning from BHX to Paris) TC -RSE Lear Jet 45 (OTT 18.27 heading East) G-SORG DA.50 Sorg (o/f 18.48 East to West - first of this type for me…) PH-BAE Aquila (o/f 19.00 East to West, much lower than the Sorg)
So all was not lost for September, but today may be another story. Got both grandson’s for the day as their mum is a teacher and it’s an inset day…. 🤞🤞🤞🤞 Off to the Natural History museum…

Thanks Graham and Bill- she was happy as a pig in **** thought she was never going to test negative again- the world is now a better place. Enjoy the Grand kids Bill, I'm sure they will enjoy the day with yourself. Sometime aircraft have to be put on the back burner. But you might see something inbound to LAP Happy Days Bob
