Incidentily made 24 balloons at Bristol so a very good year Yes an excellent year. First time in 37 years that they've flown all 7 slots! I think I made 30, and there were another 7 that I would have needed if I had seen them. That's the best tally for years for me! Keith, I don't suppose you have logs for the Sat nightglow or Sunday launches do you?

Took my wife to hospital this morning for a hip operation (everything went OK, she is fine) so had a spare day and decided to go to Luton for the first time in several months. Big mistake! Weather here was OK, but there although the airport was operating, there was thick fog, you could not see the runway or anything on it from the car park! It was also raining steadily, so after an hour or so I gave up and went home. Managed to discern the following through the gloom:
B-8298 Gulf 550 * C-GMBY CL.604 * D-CCWB EMB.505 * D-COWB C.525B * EC-HVQ C.525 G-GXLS C.560XLS G-KLNE C.560XLS G-LEAA C.510 G-LEAB C.510 G-LEAX C.560XLS G-LEAZ BD.100 G-MRAP BD.100 G-PPBA Legacy G-SYNA Legacy G-THFC Legacy G-WWFC F.2000EX LX-GJC A.318 M-CELT F.7X N155AN Gulf 550 N426PF CL.604 * N498YY C.525 N501VJ GLEX * N511DB Gulf 650 * N8000E F.7X N828UM CL.604 * N993AM F.900 LX* OE-FZE C.510 * OE-HOO BD.100 * OE-IMI F.900EX * SX-GAB Gulf 550 VP-BLW Gulf 550 VP-CIM Gulf 150 VT-ONE Gulf 4
Airliners: EI-EST, G-EZDE/FW, G-TAWU, HA-LPT/LPX/LWB/LWC/LWZ/LYH/LYI*/LYL*/LYT*
Not a bad haul, but must have missed a lot more, could not read any at the Harrods hangar.

I take pix of the ones I need plus a selection of some of the more unusual ones and I make a log after from the pix. Sorry about that

I guess you can't hang around all day in case something interesting comes out

No worries , thanks anyway.
Yes, you'd have to stay at the launch site for hours to see everything. I missed several as i couldn't go at all in the mornings.

With the wife in hospital, took the opportunity to make an early morning visit to LGW. Had not been as a spotter for a long while (I was there as a passenger in February and March) so I was pleasantly surprised to find the gate from Old Brighton Rd South to the South Perimeter Road, which used to be permanently locked and covered with sheet metal with holes only at inconvenient heights, has now been taken away giving good views of the runway and taxiways.Parking is still a problem, I parked in the trading estate to the right of where the gate used to be and was not bothered in 3 hours, but I doubt that would be the case on a weekday.
Made 8 frames, G-EZOR/T, G-GATN and SX-BSR A320s, D-ASTE and EC-MHB A321s, EC-KOM A330 (a surprise bonus, my last Air Europa A330) and PK-GIG 773. Also made 14 scrapes, and read off numerous I had previously only seen OTT, upgrading them on my spreadsheets. Logged no less than 42 different easyJet, but still need 2 EZON/P.
Called in at Redhill on the way home, did not go airside as most of the hangars were shut (and there were warning notices that you would be fined/jailed/shot if you did) but still made 11.

Good to hear from you Trevor, sorry about the door though!! The missus had me moving the dining room and sitting room around yesterday, took all day to meet her "exacting" standards, I went to bed knackered but at least she's happy now.

Miami Air B738 N739MA has just departed Shannon heading east but previously, they have gone southeast to Chania in Crete. Just a heads up really, not one I need.
EDIT - appears to be sticking on course eastbound, looking to go OTT southern counties

Good day yesterday. Quick stop at local fields Blackbushe and Fairoaks saw me make 3 G-, including newly registered G-RCMP. Then a few departing Heathrow and Luton as I drove past.
Made 7 G- at Woburn Moth Rally. Always nice to get a few G-A... gap-fillers! Haven't checked the foreign yet. Then made 9 balloons at Northampton- not bad a week after making 30 at Bristol! 2 G-B gap fillers there, plus one I missed at Bristol. So a successful day out!
The only waste of time was Cranfield- what a sad place this looks these days. Read off about 20 but only a US King Air is a likely new. Won't rush back here!

Went out earlier with the missus to walk the dogs, took the camera and glad I did as we had the very good fortune to have a load of gliders pirouetting overhead for much of the hour long walk. A few light aircraft went over too including Stinson 108-2 G-BPTA. Full log later at close of play but made 12 during the walk and a few earlier in the day

All gone quiet now so rather pleased to have made 15 today. The glider fest whilst out with the dogs was superb, 5 or 6 circling over us for about 45 minutes. The Stinson was an added bonus but as I only had the 300mm lens on the camera, the shot wasn't much cop, but the 500mm is just too long and heavy to cart around on an hour and a half's dog walk. As the wife is still in hospital, after visiting her (she is doing very well and should be home on Wednesday) made visits to White Waltham,Booker and Denham. Had been to all fairly recently so didn't expect too much, but made 19. Highlight was YU-HWF AS.341G at Denham.

Did make four yesterday as the afternoon weather was OK..
A6-BLC B787 ZH872 C-130 went right over the house southbound from BZZ D-ABMQ B737 out of BRS, rare bird in these parts, no idea where she was heading back to ZH885 C-130 buzzed us whilst out with the dogs
