September, the month when the little darlings all go back to school just in time NOT to be able to play conkers thanks to "'elf & safety".....Blimey, when I was a kid we soaked them in vinegar and then stuck them in the oven for an hour. If you'd fired one from a catapult it would have gone through the turret of a tank.......

Started the month in style with making B-52H 61-0029/BD going over the house inbound Fairford (I missed it in 2012 and was on my 25 year break for its other visits).
Then, believe it or not, I made 2 C-17s today - 99-0060 routing MAM > EXMOR and 02-1106 routing DIKAS > MAM. Neither were trailing, but were easy to find with binos.

A lot of local flying activity today, not so much seen OTT as I was busy with other thimgs, but the Hainan took me by surprise as it came right over my house which is not common for a Manchester descent. That CC A320 made it a VERY worthwhile day Chris. It did confuse me at first with a JAT flight code and an Air Serbia logo on the radar box and the Chile mode-s....took a bit of delving around to make it all fit together. It Goes well with CC-AWA that I got back in June..

Tied up with kids football most of the day, still the weather was so grim I don't think I'd have made more than the one below if I'd been trying.

A little bit of cloud-lifting at lunchtime enabled me to finally catch up with Northolt's Agusta A.109SP GZ100 which came over Melksham at 3500ft heading WSW.

Back from a non-spotting week in Cornwall (though did make a few OTT and if anyone can tell me what the 9 Red Arrows were which did a display in Scilly on Bank Holiday Monday I would be grateful).
A brief break in the cloud late afternoon led to a couple of catch-ups G-EZRH 320 easyJet and EI-FVW 738 Norwegian, but low cloud again meant I could not see 4X-EDA 789 which went overhead on LHR departure, and don't hold out much hope for needed 773s B-7868 China Eastern and B-16739 EVA which are due to depart LHR in the next hour. If I saw them both that would be 1200 777 frames.
(later) As expected, both 773s were above the cloud on departure.

The bad news is that it was another blank day, 100% low cloud cover. The good news is that EVA are using their newer 773s on the BR67/68 from/to Taipei into LHR, B-16733/35/39 so far. When the skies clear there are 20 to make, they go overhead on departure at around 22.00, B-16718-39 but saw B-16720/26 on rare appearances in 2016.

Not a bad day at all, with 5 frames made. A trio of 773s A6-EQB, N2138U OTT (my 1,200th 777 frame) and B-16732 LHR departure, plus EC-MQB 321 Vueling outbound LTN and SE-ROB 320neo outbound LHR.

Hi Rugbyref,
Great to see your report from Barbados...
Just hope you are safe and well in the Caribbean what with Irma and Jose causing so much havoc in the area.
Stay safe mate and just hope you have a great trip.
Cheers.

Blue skies early but no trails, then occasional blue patches between the thunderstorms, and clear again this evening. Continued to make 777 frames with A6-EQC Emirates and B-16736 EVA, N842FD FedEx was a scrape. HA-LXR 321 Wizz out of BHX hit the spreadsheet as did EI-FZY 738 Ryanair inbound LGW and B-5901 333 Air China on LHR departure. Other scrapes were EC-MFJ 717 Volotea heading for Cork and YR-BMD 738 Blue Air out of BHX.
Needed Aeroflot 321 VP-BEE is in LHR at present due out on SU2575 but delayed, and A6-EUQ 380 Emirates is about to depart MAN, might see it but depends on route.
(edit) The Emirates went out over the North Sea, far too far north for me. The Aeroflot is still on the ground at LHR, no signs of action. But just made YR-BMG Blue Air out of Liveroool. Off to bed now.

Nice start grabbing the first two, then the rain came, got drenched watching one of my lads at football, then off to Villa Park for the now ritual boredom, where the most exciting thing was seeing the Monarch whilst on the walk in to complete the Monarch fleet for me. The Cessna flew low over the house after dark.

Four in the book for yesterday before heading off to the Mad Stad to see Reading lose 1-0 against Bristol City, again most of the possession, created the better chances but we don't have a striker so we then concede and lose the match, however the following were noted at home:
VP-CZA Gulfstream 650 G-GOYA Global Express (outbound Farnborough) G-POWP B737F (inbound Lasham) EC-MFJ B717 Volotea

David, you wanted Agbonlahor off us last year, I'd gladly drive him down myself only if I got stopped at a weighbridge I'd be fined!

Thanks Deke, but I wouldn't want him in our team,he is well past his sell by date, but we do need a striker otherwise it's going to be a long hard season.

Had an excellent day out yesterday. Went to the Scampton airshow which was very good despite a lot of on-line criticsim. Then went to Coningsby to see the German Tornados and Typhoons. Then on to Conington and Sackville (no balloons but 20-odd light logged)
Will try and post logs this week.

Am sitting in Barbados, hoping to see the Jetblue and American flights resume sometime. Just before nightfall Saturday, an RAF C17 flew in with a Puma onboard to help with the hurricane relief. Did any of our Brize watchers note which one this was? (According to MOD this followed an earlier C17, Viyager and Atlas combo.)
