They never get it wrong the other way though, they never say, " tomorrow will be pouring with rain, windy and dull" but when you wake up, it's sunny. I'm sure my old Granny's bit of seaweed hanging on her shed wall was way more accurate.

Swedish AF historic flight Viggen, Draken and Lansen plus a Leeming-based Qatari Hawk are the stars for me this week…
With a month to go until the Air Tattoo, this week has been particularly busy in the Air Operations Office, with our Air Traffic Control team in for their Training Days, our "Longest Day" for aircraft arrival slot planning, and today our Emergency Services 'Table Top' Exercises taking place. We can now announce the participation of Joint Helicopter Command assets at RIAT 2022; with the Chinook Display Team, a pair of Pumas, Commando Wildcat and Commando Merlin all due to attend. We have put in a special request for one the Pumas to be XW224, which is specially painted to mark 50 years of Puma operations. Sadly the Army Air Corps cannot provide any aircraft for the show. We can now confirm the types of aircraft the Royal Canadian Air Force will send to this year's show as part of our Platinum Juiblee celebrations! 437 Squadron will return with their CC-130J Hercules aircraft and 427 Squadron will participate with their CC-150 Polaris, which will be the first time in two decades we've seen the aircraft type at RIAT! The Swedes are coming! We're appreciative to SAAB for supporting the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight to deploy a number of their jets to join the RIAT 2022 static displays. Whilst UK CAA display regulations mean they cannot perform in the flying display at RIAT, we're pleased to be able to welcome these rare cold war jets to the Air Tattoo, all of them being twin-seat variants appropriate for our training theme. Another welcome addition to our static display line-up comes from the Qatar Emiri Air Force, who will be sending one of their new Hawk training jets, currently based at RAF Leeming. Finally this week, we've added a number of support aircraft to the participation list. Although most of them won't be present over the public days, enthusiasts attending on the arrivals and departures day will see them delivering support equipment and personnel to RAF Fairford.

It says in the latest press release that they would have to get ready for 280 aircraft to arrive- so with 229 confirmed already still a few more to be announced. Happy Days Bob

Lets hope it stays fine- with no aqua- could do with a bit of half decent weather after the last few months. Just hoping the USAF decide to add a few more for the show a B2 would be nice. Printed off my Saturday tickets which were received yesterday- hotel booked for two nights so good to go. Happy Days Bob

Not a major final update on the RIAT site:- Bahrain C130J NATO Sentry RAF Poseidon JASDF- Kawasaki C2 Also a Beluga Thought the Americans would have added a few more. That's it for 2022 updates Happy Days Bob

hi, well all ok except for the US Army, it does say the final update so, it looks a very good selection, pity the USAF couldn't have sent more as it was their 75th, but nevertheless, the weather looks to be co-operating (but not saying too much about that). Here's hoping the traffic problems of the last few years are sorted... seven and a half days to go... and waiting.

Hi Bob/Dave Not a great final update but I'm well happy with what there is after 3 years in the wilderness. I still wouldn't put it past the USAF to perhaps give us a surprise or two - it's happened before (that's my uninformed personal view) Cheers Keith

Keith/dave, Not complaining just under 250 attendees, and at least over 100+ needed to enter the book- like you say Keith you never know the Yanks may do a cheeky flypast to surprise us as they have in the past. Hopefully the weather plays ball- and we have a great show- its been a long couple of years. Happy Spotting and Happy Days Bob

Maybe not great in terms of numbers but some superb additions in that last update-
Japanese C-2 only the second or third time in the UK ? Bahrain C-130 - new country for RIAT and I’ve never seen one of their Hercs before.
Beluga XL in the flypast on Saturday- surely a UK airshow debut as well? I’ve only ever seen one up close at Berlin two weeks ago.
I won’t be there Sunday, but confirmation of a formation of the Black Eagles and Red Arrows is superb too

Hi Bob Well the weather down south for next week suggests we are on for a massive heatwave with 30+ temperatures until Friday at least. However - I won't build my hopes up for the Saturday until I see the midweek forecast at least. I was one of those fortunate guys to have VIP tickets for the Royal Review back in I think it was 2008. We were in the grandstand to see the Queen do the biz with the Royal Standards etc - a bit like Trooping the Colour - there were a few flypasts over the parade ground - anyhow, as soon as she got into her Rolls to be driven off for lunch the heavens opened for lunch. Me and my mates who were suited and booted ran across the parade ground to take cover in the back of an RAF Chinook - I reckon we probably set the world record that day as there must have been a good 100+ crammed into the back of that Chinook sheltering from the rain. After lunch, when the Queen came out to watch the massed flypast at about 2-30, it stopped raining and we saw a full flypast - hmmm - is she in touch with the weather gods?? All I know is that the Saturday/Sunday shows were cancelled due to the weather and farmers tractors were very busy dragging hundreds of cars out of the mud. The team I felt really sorry for were from Brazil - I'm not surprised they never came back!!! Cheers Keith
