Peter's epic would appear to be safe John albeit not available for public reading as it is stored in the Proboards archives. As Jeff or someone commented yesterday, once on the internet, always on the internet. We have a link to the archive section of the old forum but for now, it appears that we can't access PB's thread.

Hi JC Thanks it is nice to be back. I couldn't get on with the other admin, so vacated. Trips, that would be nice but being a RETIRED old fart now, the trips will be few and far between. Jokes, it is rumoured that the drink driving laws have put an end to the 'pub culture' and apparently that was where most jokes were exchanged. I belong to a Transit van forum & that was where most of my jokes were purloined from but that too has now dried up, very few jokes posted. I am in Goa till middle of March & the internet is unbelievably slow, but I'll knock up an epic to post when I get back. Meanwhile, do have fun....but not too much I still get jealous. Terry Look forward to that

Hi All,
I'm Kev, based in Thatcham, W Berks and have registered here under my previous monicker. Over on PPRuNE I am "Wycombe", but my aviation heart definitely lies at Blackbushe.
Grew up in Crowthorne in the '70's and early '80's and used to spend an unhealthly amount of time on my bike visiting the field in the Doug Arnold days. In the 80's and 90's I was also seriously into the spotting and travelled far and wide, but with the main haunt being Heathrow, with spotting mate Mark Gale (sadly taken from us way too early).
In the early 90's I learnt to fly, and most of that was at the 'Bushe aswell. I was an active Club member at European Flyers until late in that decade. "Events" at EF saw me move over to Wycombe as a member at the Air Centre there until around 2003, when my local avaition adventures were put on the back-burner (and still are, for now).
I'm not so much into the "numbers" these days, but happy to report what I see for others on my all-too-infrequent visits to the 'Bushe. Very keen to keep-up-date on the local aviation scene in general, so hopefully this will be a good place to do that.
Well done Graham for getting this set up so quickly. Agree with what others have said about the demise of the "old" forum, a crying shame that was hard to fathom as far as I'm concerned.
Enough from me, cheers all for now, Kev

Hi to all on the new Forum. shorehamflyer has been spotting since around 1986, now living in Shoreham, and I only collect "pure" BIZ (i.e. no BBJs or Legacies). A bit extreme in some peoples eyes, but hopefully I won't get shot down in flames. Hopefully "Each to their own" is the motto 'round these parts. I certainly won't get annoyed with people posting about anything from microlight to A380, as any info is good info, I reckon.
Cheers to one and all, shorehamflyer

Sorry, I also meant to say that hopefully we can track down "Flyboy" (Stuart, former Airport Manager at the 'Bushe) who of course oversaw the airfield movements thread on the "old" Forum. He has links to the staff at the field (I know "Globaljet", but that's all) which of course is valuable, and I know takes interest in all that goes on, past and present.

Have just joined your Group having been a member of the old Forum. What a strange situation, what does go through certain peoples mind, but as one of the members stated, it is all in the past, lets move on!!! When the old Forum finished I thought I would no longer be able to enjoy Graham's and the lads from Everton and many other postings, but we are all back together again. A few personal details about myself, I am 80yrs of age and been spotting for several years, Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stanstead, but no longer, bad health has taken charge now and am limited to watching Biz on short finals into Farnborough from my Lounge windows. Will not be able to contribute much to the Forum, but hope my enthusiasm will be enough push the group forwards.
I have rambled long enough now, so would like to add my thanks to Graham for the new Forum, long may it continue.

Hello exeglkflyer and all on this great new forum. My name is Stuart and I post as "Flyboy". I was the airport manager at the Bushe from 1985 until I retired in October 2006 having worked on and off for AVM Bennet, D.Arnold and BCA. I first started as a spotter when I cycled up to the airfield from my home in Basingstoke in the mid '50s. Peter Brown has in the past posted many of my photo's of aircraft at the field in those days. Please can we get them back somehow! I also spent many years as the AFISO and Manager at Fairoaks when not working at Blackbushe so I know a bit about both fields! I don't get about so much now but may be able to help with queries about either field and current movements at the Bushe. Great work setting this up Graham. Regards to all. Stuart

A warm welcome to you both, Gary and Martin, I'm sure you will find us a friendly bunch here. Please have a good look around if you haven't done already, a different layout to the old place but more concise and all actions such as posting photos are exactly the same.

Great to see more and more names from the old group joining! I've mentioned it to a couple of the old silent viewers - I get the impression that won't be such a crime these days.
If it's not too much trouble, can there be a separate Ballooning thread? If that's a pain, no worries- leave it where it is!
Cheers

"Photo of the Day"....sound familiar?
Hello Graham and the revivalist team, really pleased to see some names from the recent past back on the screen! I seemed to go under the name of Peter Brown in a previous life so might as well stick with it, at least it matches my Passport.
Brilliant work Graham in getting this Forum off the ground, but I have to say I come with a heavy heart following the demise of four years devoted work bringing old Blackbushe from out of the shadows.
I'm interested to read that my work might be recoverable from the archives..any suggestions as to how would be welcome....
Somebody has mentioned that I have launched a new forum for Blackbushe. Rather premature news, but for some time I have been considering the possibility of a Forum devoted to Blackbushe, and it may be that such an event happens, recent events having spurred my thoughts on the matter. I have the greatest respect for what you are doing, and hope that if I do go it alone with Blackbushe our forums will live happily side by side, somehow linked maybe..Not sure how, but time is on our side!
I cannot say what my reactions were when the old Forum was stolen from beneath our feet, but I ran through the entire spectrum of human emotions!! I had been in receipt of some very odd messages prior to the 'closure' suggesting that a number of people within the Forum wished to see "Blackbushe Pictures from the Past" closed and perhaps I should leave!! I don't wish to elaborate on spilt milk, and will leave the matter dead and buried as we move to the broad sunlit uplands of new beginnings.
Wishing the new Forum all the very best, and if there is further news about Blackbushe from me - you'll see it here first!!
As`always

I can't believe that there was a single member who wanted to see your thread closed! It was widely acknowledged as the best thing on there!
If those messages came from "Admin" then clearly it was a jealous reaction. We all hope that the thread can be recovered- is anyone part of Tony's new forum or groups? Perhaps with his help there would be a way of recovering it...? He owes you that!

A huge welcome Peter!! I had, as you know, started to copy and save your wonderful Blackbushe thread to a new home but such was the speed of the old forum's demise, that I only had time to save a small fraction of your huge work. I've a feeling that I may be the "leaky" person regarding your launching a Blackbushe forum - I had heard on the grapevine that it was a possibility so when the new Blackbushe forum appeared I incorrectly assumed it was you! My apologies Sir!
Please rest assured that there will never be any erratic or dogmatic moderation here - we are all friends, even if many of us have never met, with a common love of all things to do with aviation and we just want people to feel happy here.

Dylan, I fear your breath is wasted matey. Anyone who feels no shame whatsoever in pulling the plug on what was for some people like Peter, four years' sterling work, won't listen to anyone. It's called "tunnel vision". I too expressed my feelings on the FAB Facebook page before I ceased my membership there and said there and then that it was a disgraceful thing to do but he won't care and has seemingly deleted any comments that express similar feelings.
zz, point taken about ballooning, I'll put a dedicated forum in place right away. .

A huge thank you Graham!! I too had started to copy the old work feeling that things were going to turn choppy..I think I made it to page three before the blue screen of death was dropped before our eyes.
Probably the only time I and 'page three' will be mentioned in the same sentence..believe me, it's best that way!!!
Fully appreciate that we are all flying under friendly skies once more, glued together by that common bond..aviation. What would life be without it?
Oh, and Graham, don't forget to let me know when you're next on finals to EGLK...
Cheers PB

Thank you Peter, I actually reached page eight I think, still rather adrift from where it was unceremoniously cut short on page 108!! I'm sure there must be a way to recover it, although that falls outside of any PC literacy I possess I'm afraid.
My pleasure zz.
