I am so pleased that Peter has joined us,even if his superb thread is missing (at the moment) I cannot believe that anyone would suggest his pictures should be removed from the previous site.

I think it is BLACKBUSHEFREEFORUMS .NET. If not a quick search on Blackbushe should find it.

You guys flatter me too much, the Blackbushe thread was for my own entertainment in many ways, but I'm just happy it was enjoyed by others.
There may be other Blackbushe forums in the making, but if my idea hits the streets it will - hopefully - be the one stop Blackbushe forum where all her needs are cared for...Time will tell, a degree of planning required at this time. Planning and especially learning...
Thanks again for all the highly supportive messages re the old thread cast off in her prime..it's already feeling like 'old times' as this Forum gathers momentum..That is to say, the best of the 'old times'!!!

There's lots of very good Aviation 'stuff' online as we all know. But speaking as a pilot, spotter , photographer and aviation nut for more years than I care to remember I personally found Peter B's Blackbushe thread to be one of the best bits of Aviation 'stuff' on the Internet. Not just for the quality of the pictures, but for the historical significance and the way Peter writes. My gut feeling is the thread can be recovered. It's still there in the archives and it maybe just a question of cost. Pro boards may recover it for a fee and possibly consent from the previous forum owner. So for Peter may I just say I was one of the many lurkers on the old forum but read your thread every day from day one. Never commented and never said thanks. So I'm saying it now. Thankyou PB and welcome.

I too was a silent avid reader of Peter B`s Blackbushe thread and am glad to see him here. Hopefully there will be a way to recover his lost hard work and if it requires a fee I for one and I`m sure most others will gladly chip in to be able to see all the treasures he once let us see. Steve

What ho!! I was very pleased to find this forum. Withdrawal symptoms were well and truly setting in ....... particularly the lack of photographs and comments from PB.
For the past 35 year I have been a near neighbour of the 'Bushe (my garden backs onto the northern side!!) and I fully empathise with his feelings about the demise of airfield. The heady days of dashing out to see Doug Arnold's latest acquistion will never be repeated but there is always hope that such a valuable resource can be put to better use.
Lurking in the depths of the attic I have a number of photographs taken during '80s and, in fact, some were posted on the previous site. I will look these out again.

Unless he's going under a new name, we don't have eglfjohn on here. Does anyone know him or how to contact him?
He posted good, regular, thorough reports for Farnborough. I would like to see him posting them again!

Good morning and a big welcome to Malcolm and cowley, and all the others who have once again "signed up" during the small hours. Thank you too for the positive comments - we are just as much on a learning curve as everyone else, so please gents, any ideas, suggestions, or criticisms, good or bad are eagerly received, it can only serve to make the forum better. We have tried to provide a more logical but less cluttered sequence of sub forums than some of us were used to on the old site, but nothing is set in stone here, so if a sub forum does not receive much or any use it will probably be removed and tacked onto the "any other" sub forum that most main forums have here. Similarly, if anyone notices a glaring omission then please let Dockwell or me know and we will accommodate you.
Above all, we aim to be friendly here, with no draconian moderation and erratic "management". We are so pleased that so many familiar faces have decided to join us already and so we want to make sure that everyone is happy. I still work full time, albeit 1-2 days per week from home, and Dockwell works shifts so there may be times when neither of us are on line. If that's the case, and you need something, please drop either or both of us a private message via the facility here and we will give it our immediate attention as soon as we are back on line.
Thanks again to all for joining us.

Morning All
This Bear has been a bit sleepy and although saddened by the demise of the original FAB site...had no idea of the new sites set up to replace it! So only just got around to visiting and joining. Based just south of Kemble, have been interested in aviation since the 70s and achieved a life long ambition of learning to fly in the late 80s. Currently I am sat in the back seat of G-BALF, wearing a silly, bear like grin.
Will attempt to keep all abreast of stuff going on at the International Spaceport, up the road.
Bravo to Graham Devizes and co for this phoenix. Graham the Whitebear

Hi Graham. Finally caught up with the site. Very many thanks for your efforts in setting it up for us all. Got the aircraft bug way back in 1960 when living under the Heathrow approach. Based, as the name suggests, in Old Basing - early retirement from the CAA as Head of Operations after 36 years starting with the MoA (fond memories of Doves in an otherwise empty Stansted circuit). The phone then started ringing and now mainly working in the express air cargo industry but odd jobs come along such as setting up the EU aid programme aircraft operations in Somalia (photographing derelict Somali Migs in a minefield)and Congo and other jobs around the globe which enable the camera to be pointed at winged wonders and the cats kept in food. Like others here, my first thoughts on the closure of Tony's site were for Peter Brown and his truly epic work on Blackbushe. Lets hope it can be recovered somehow.
Good luck Graham, look forward to participating and many thanks once again for your efforts on our behalf.

A big welcome to Dave and Graham, great to have you both here with us. Things are a bit different here to what we had all (unfortunately)become accustomed to, we aim to be easy going and provide a forum where peoples' contributions won't disappear on a whim. Please have a good look down through the forums, I think we have most things covered but we are more than happy for suggestions, additions, ideas and any criticism, good or bad.

Just head Mr Whitebear's dulcet tones on the wireless ;-)
Change of "name" for me, out with the old in with the new and all that. Based the other side of Kemble to Whitebear so we have it covered from all angles. Worked in aviation or motorsport most of my life now a Commercial balloon pilot flying advertising balloons all over the world and also have my own AOC to carry out passenger flights.
Looking forward to contributing a lot of hot air to the new forum

Well I am here too now. Although I count Stansted as my local airport, having worked there since leaving school 37 years ago! it was the Blackbushe pictures from the past thread that originally drew me to the old place. The goings on at Bournemouth and Lasham also caught my attention. Looking forward to contributing in some small way to this forum.
Simon.
