Evening all. Really appreaciate what has been done to set this up Graham. I started spotting at East Midlands in 1969 and although I've been resting for a few years I'm now out and about again. I currently live near Fareham so Southampton and Lee are close to me although I do spend a fair amount of time looking up. Look forward to a successful site and to meeting up with a few of you in the future. Nigel

A warm welcome Nigel. Yes, a bit of a shock to say the least on Wed/Thu but we had an idea it might happen so had this new forum waiting in the wings. Only real damage done is that Peter Brown's majestic Blackbushe thread has been wiped clean. Plenty of familiar faces here already so please have a look around and enjoy the forum. We aim to be laid back and relaxed, something most of us want after the somewhat erratic management of the last forum.

Hi I am mike but will be slogen51 on here as there are many mikes
I live near Woking and often see (and post) FAB in bounds when I am not out spotting or working.
Well done for keeping the flame alight - real shame about the old group as I found it really informative and helpful ( I must confess I did not notice a particularly draconian edit policy on the old group)
I collect everything except civil light (which probably excludes 75% of aircraft!)
cheers Mike

Hi JC Thanks it is nice to be back. I couldn't get on with the other admin, so vacated. Trips, that would be nice but being a RETIRED old fart now, the trips will be few and far between. Jokes, it is rumoured that the drink driving laws have put an end to the 'pub culture' and apparently that was where most jokes were exchanged. I belong to a Transit van forum & that was where most of my jokes were purloined from but that too has now dried up, very few jokes posted. I am in Goa till middle of March & the internet is unbelievably slow, but I'll knock up an epic to post when I get back. Meanwhile, do have fun....but not too much I still get jealous. Terry

I'm actually chevvron, but every time I tried to sign on to this forum it said that name wasn't available so I've now got dual identity! Funnily I was able to sign up to the 'new' Blackbushe only forum as chevvron.

Hi all
I was a regular follower and contributor on the old site.
Well done to Graham for getting this one going so quickly. I was considering doing it myself but am very pleased to see Graham has done it already! But I would like to offer any help that I can give.
That said, the new site looks great- lots more logical options, and much more professional looking! I was always grateful to Tony for running the old site, although I didn't really agree with some of his policies. But I was furious when he pulled the plug. I, like many others, spent a lot of hours posting logs and photos. I can only imagine how Peter feels about his Blackbushe thread disappearing! I e-mailed Tony to try and get him to transfer "ownership" rather than deleting everything, so all would not be lost, but he never even replied! Oh well, enough of the old - its gone! Here's to a new, better forum.
Thanks again Graham

Welcome aboard ZZ, hope you find us all a friendly bunch here. We're having none of the officiousness and erratic administration that ruined the old site, we want this to be fun, friendly and above all informative. We already have many of the old site's top contributors and the membership seems to grow by the minute.
Peter's old Blackbushe thread would appear to be safe in the Proboards archives and he has started his own Blackbushe forum so let's hope that that epic work of his is fully recoverable and can be saved and posted for all to enjoy again.
It would be good if tarnish were to sign up, but Jeff only had time to save a few email addresses before the plug was pulled on the FAB forum. But word seems to be getting about and I reckon we will pass the one hundred members barrier today

Great to see another key poster joining, I was gutted to find the plug pulled and everybodys input destroyed in a pique, how purile, selfish and spiteful, who would want to leave a legacy like that.
The only thing I thought might be worth a try is an appeal to Proboards however they are reached, It is obviously in their interest as well as ours, they would get more site visitors for the advertising revenue and we would have a great historical document saved.
Regards
John
