How I love British weather. Even more so when you live less than a mile from the sea.

Is it just me, but for the last three weeks of this so called summer, I don't thing we have had a cloudless day yet, not very good for dot spotting
Cheers
Adrian
Edit:- we went to the Air Britain fly in at North Weald a couple of weekends ago, and on the Saturday it was cold, more like winter

No,it's not you Adrian, some days I don't even bother switching FR24 on as I get depressed missing stuff going right over the house eg:today there was a Qatar/Al Maha A320 A7-LAD come out of Shannon and go right over, needless to say the cloud put paid to that.

Talking of FR24, i see they are now advertising the fact that they are using a satellite to track the cross atlantic aircraft, ( orange symbols) which mean Bill will now text me about an inbound about 9 hours before i have any chance of seeing it .... Lol

Have you noticed Jeff that FR24 says it will kick you out after 30 minutes, when in actual fact it's 13 mins & 4 secs - how annoying

Pretty sure that if you parade to FR24 premium Adrian you don't get kicked out at all and it also gets rid of the ads. I've been a premium user for about three years. I don't recall the cost but it's quite affordable. About three months ago they introduced three levels of membership. I'm now a Gold user rather than premium and that costs $34.99 a year which at current awful exchange rates is about £26. However FR24 still doesn't show most military or MLATS so I use Plane Plotter for those.

At last a bit of brightness and a pot to report, VN-A866 789 has just gone overhead, my last Vietnam 78 (until they deliver some more, I heard somewhere they had a total of 9 on order).
The FR24 app on my I-pad does not kick me out, I can watch all day until the battery runs out. Also it has no ads. It cost me the princely sum of £1.49 3 years ago. The main disadvantage is that unlike the website it has no playback facility, but I use PlaneFinder for this, as the FR24 website goes back only 7 days whereas PlaneFinder goes back at least a month.

Plane Plotter are using a satellite now too, Inmarsat whatever that is. I believe they use it to gain coverage over very sparsely populated areas where there are few if any ground stations such as Australia, northern Canada and the like.

My computer has just deleted my bizjet spreadsheet, all 22,000 lines of it. Looked for it in the recycle bin, not there. Backed it up about 6 weeks ago, so a lot of reconstruction needed, but not impossible. Note to self, back up more often!
One more pot, F-HTVC 738 of Transavia France inbound LTN.

That's one heck of a loss Jerry. Had you considered buying an external hard drive at all? My other half bought me one last years, huge 3Tb capacity and I save all my spreadsheets as well as other stuff like photographs on the hard drive. The photos are the one thing I couldn't bear to lose - family occasions, holidays and trips over the years that would be irreplaceable. And of course, if the unthinkable ever happened, and you have to get out of the house fast, you just grab the hard drive and all your stuff is safe.

Jerry, also look at 'dropbox' you can set it up to automatically save your spreadsheets everytime they are updated !

Thanks for your advice guys. I have not actually lost much, only the changes to the bizjet spreadsheet in the last 6 weeks and I have separate records of all the frames and scrapes in that period. Main nuisance is that I had updated data from Aviation Letters 593 and 594, whereas my backup is only updated to 592.
I use memory sticks for backup, these are perfectly OK for all my excel and word documents, but photos are too bulky. Will look at Dropbox to see what it offers.
G-ZBKH has just landed at LHR on delivery, another to look out for.

I too use Drop Box J erry, it's on my PC and mobile and whenever I update the PC, as Jeff says above, it syncs to the mobile. That means I can also check right away when I'm out and about whether I need a frame I've just seen.

Lucky you, David. I've just missed RACER98 - a much needed US Army C-20F (GLF4) 91-00108 at FL400 routing LAM (at 15.23) > CPT > DIKAS. First chance to see it with clear blue skies over UL9 and I could not make it out at all!!!!
Not the only thing I could not see today. C-17A 10-0215 went directly over my house late lunchtime at FL230, routing Yeovilton > Brize Norton inbound Mildenhall. Normally I can see them with absolutely no problem at all, but the sky was too hazy. Fortunately, I don't need that one.
