Made "RCH973" Travis-based 60AMW C-5M 87-0032 [AE057D] this morning and then had to go out. Thus, I had to miss two needed C-17s (out of three) and the new Atlas ZM409 on delivery. Such is life.

A slightly better day today in terms of stuff seen, but varying amounts of cloud restricted overall numbers.

Then as the dark nights set in and also dark mornings will just be relying on the airways and anything going into LPL as well as MCR for my cops- only 95 shopping days till Xmas. Next years planned trips, visits etc almost complete. Well a rough guide to what I am going to do. Back to today, cloudy and overcast this afternoon after work- although it was quite nice this morning in work!!!! Off to Goodison this evening for the Worthless Cup v Norwich COYB. Happy Days Bob

Hope your right Dave- potential banana skin for us tonight- albeit we are playing well- but so are Norwich- just getting a bit of blue sky here now- typical just an hour before I head off to pick my mate up to go to Valhalla to see the game. Happy days Bob

Cheers mate much appreciated. yeah, we've had a few bits in including the hondajet N25HJ which was nice. Not sure on the boats side of things, haven't been paying too much attention if I'm honest. Off to St Mary's tomorrow night for the game against Palace (about the 10th time we've got them in the cup!), only a fiver so can't complain.

Not the best of days weather wise with the cloud reluctant to give way to any sort of brightness, but have managed to add two to the monthly record.

The predicted banana skin did upset the applecart at Goodison last night- albeit we played well- but did not take any of the chances created. Also Norwich did take the two chances they had and that was that- anyway good luck to them. At least Reading won for Dave. Weather today is overcast and grim albeit a bit of sunshine is due later- but won't hold my breath on that one then. Update:- 14:42 Challenger 350 9H-VCH trailing heading south through nice patch of blue skies- strike 3 for week Roll on holidays. Happy Days Bob

Morning all, got back from 11 days in searingly hot Rhodes yesterday early evening. Apart from a huge electrical storm and buckets of rain on the final night that sent hundreds of al fresco diners running for cover, it was clear blue skies for the duration. It did cool down for the last couple of days, but by "cool down", this meant it dropped below 30c from previous days' highs of 35 or 36c. Diagoras airport sits on the west coast about 15 kms south of Rhodes Town and on the two days we explored the west coast, bucket loads went into the book. For the rest of the time, everything trailed prior to the sun appearing over the mountainside in the early morning and on days 9 and 10, stuff was trailing throughout the day.
We had a front and rear balcony on our first floor apartment and by using of all things the guttering that ran along the roofline above our balcony (it had clips on it every metre or so) I was able to pinpoint all the OTTs whether they were west/east or north/south and pick them out with the bins.
We found what must be one of the best spotting locations in Greece quite by chance - Caroline wanted to visit Filarimos Monastery south of Rhodes Town; this sits on top of what looks like an old volcanic plug at 850ft above sea level. You can drive right to the top on a good surfaced road, park for free, then if you walk along the avenue of trees south from the car park, you arrive at the huge Cross with a huge 270 degree panoramic view of the entire area including the northern threshold of Diagoras' runway plus the old airport at Maritsa, two miles to the east which is used by the Hellenic Coast Guard.
There can't be a better location in Greece or maybe Europe, and although I didn't bring the 500mm lens due to its weight and size, there would have been some great shots to be had.
FR24 works well on and around the entire Aegean area although as usual, very few biz and no military are shown or ID'd. Planefinder works well and did show the occasional biz with ID. I was disappointed though with Plane Plotter. It showed movements in a wide arc to the north and east of the island, but virtually nothing to the south and west and what it did show, in general had no reg or hex, even the regular airliner movements.
I tried to keep a tally as I went along, I've certainly made 250-ish but need to sit down now for a couple of days and sort everything out.
Diagoras was busy yesterday on our departure day, with a Hellenic AF C-27 arriving to join a Canadian AF C-130 on the apron as well as the regular domestic and continental traffic. Reports to follow, no photos though I'm afraid, still a big no no in Greece.

Generally it's been a frustrating day with nothing of interest when there is some blue sky around and of course something comes over when it's cloudy so in the end very happy to have logged the following:
ZZ337 A330 Royal Air Force LY-SPG A320 Small Planet G-ZBKN B787-9 British Airways EI-FRV B737 Ryanair (have missed EI-FRW a few times in the last couple of days and now I notice that EI-FRX has been delivered).

7 787 frames so far this week, G-ZBKG/N, N782/84/85/86AV of Avianca (and need tomorrow's N780AV) and A7-BDD my last Qatar. But that's it! Missed the Silkair, the needed Eurowings D-AEWK/L both turned north too soon for me to see them on LHR 27 departure, and none of the biz seen heading for LTN was needed.

Couple of req seen last night on way home from work, did anybody manage to log a lynx flying southbound down M3 at 18.30 and does anyone have any info on a 747 O/h Farnborough at 18.45 at about 10k descending and heading in the LGW direction, there was nothing on FR24 or Plane Finder at the time and I was right underneath it so no colours or airline Im afraid
