Have finally sorted out the Rhodes logs and have made 287 new frames over the holiday. Most were OTT's, about 20% were inbounds/outbounds to Diagoras when we drove the west coast over two days. Will try to post logs tomorrow but have mountains of washing to do, the grass is a foot high in the back garden and we need to do a large shop ( as the missus calls it)to refill the fridge, freezer and cupboards.

It's been a glorious day here in the English Channel, so it was time to cut the grass and sort the greenhouse out and start putting the summer things away whilst still managing to put sixteen in the book, so a productive day all round. Glad you had a great time in Greece Graham, am also looking forward to the logs.

Bit grim here this morning- overcast and very windy- was contemplating going to MCR to get the Hainan A330 and the Qatar 787 would changed my mind in favour of a nice cup of coffee. You all certainly had a good day yesterday Bill/Dave & Chris- you are in position "A" when the sun is shining for stuff in and out of LAP, LGW and FAB. Like the Cathay A350 and Avianca 787 hopefully will see some on one of my sorties down south in 2016. Nice total from Rhodes Graham- when I was in Pefkos many years ago cannot remember seeing much flying around at all. If I get three figures in Cyprus I will be well happy, but not holding my breath on that one. I am holding my breath a lot lately. Have a great weekend chaps- COYB Happy Days Bob

Cheers again Bob,I think that a few aircraft that visited New York for the UN meeting were returning home yesterday because in addition to the Saudi registered A320,I also saw but not needed:
5X-UGF Gulfstream 550 J-756 Gulfstream 450
all three come over my house @ FL180 before turning North East for landing @ Stansted (assumed).

Most were OTTs Bob, as mentioned, once I had sussed out where they would cross our balcony, I could pick them out with the bins even though most weren't trailing. Got a shot of the orange microlight that does pleasure flights from "Flyers Bar" in Pefkos and did ask in the bar if the registration was known, but the owner wasn't there and no one else really knew what I was on about. My micro knowledge is crap anyway so I don't even know the type but will get the photo posted today hopefully.

Cyprus is the same Graham- nothing trails- and almost impossible to pick things out in the main heat of the day- But I had success when I returned to the apartment and as you say once you get your bearings you can pick the OTT's up- Inbounds to Larnaca are ok for aircraft coming in from Europe- but the MEA, Egyptian and El-Al stuff usually do a different approach turning sharply before our resort. Reference the Micro light- I remember someone told me that there was a light aviation strip above Pefkos on the far side of the rock face which faces the main road. Never tried to find it though. Looked at some of the footage on You tube of Pefkos it has completely changed from when we went there in 1994- from the quiet village type resort- completely built up and now a big car park next to the beach- when you walked from the accommodation down to same. Protaras in Cyprus is the same- completely built up with lot's of hotels and bars. Ah well that's progress I suppose. Happy Days Bob

Overcast and has been raining this morning- nil return yesterday -could have gone to MAN (needed the Emirates 380)whilst the wife had her hair done, but opted to stay in and watch Man U and Leicester on Sky. UPDATE:- Did get one yesterday whilst waiting at Chippy for our (Saturday Night pre Strictly can't be bothered cooking anything tonight- Chippy Tea) Van Air (Europe) L410 OK-UBA inbound LPL Rw 27. Supposed to be nice here after eight (Bit of sunshine) but looking outside does not look like happening. Bad day at the office for the blues yesterday at Bournemouth- well beaten by all accounts. Roll on holidays. Happy Days Bob

Hi Bob. I doubt we would return to Pefkos. We've been three times 2006 2011 and this year. The change has been huge and not for the best. Even five years ago there were Scandinavians, Italians, French, Germans and other nationalities holidaying there but it's wall to wall British now with full English breakfasts at every taverna and Lamb shank, pork chops and roast beef taking precedence over Greek fare on all the menus. Each to their own of course and the restaurants are only offering what they are asked for but it's not our scene. We had a rental car for a few days and ate like kings in some non tourist villages off the beaten path for very little money at all. Pefkos does have superb beaches but most seemed to prefer laying around the pool all day. Beautiful island though but one that we have pretty much explored now.

Graham- I'm with you on this one- cannot see the sense of going to the Greek Islands and having English food all the time reminds me of Shirley Valentine when the lad get's asked if he wants some Greek food and say's "don't want any of that foreign muck" but I suppose they are accommodating the Union Jack short wearing English. It's like not trying out the local drinks and asking for Stones and Carling. One good thing about this place we are going to in Cyprus is although they have a mix of food across the board- they have the Greek restaurant which has Kleftiko to die for. Can't wait. Here's to you and the good lady having a great holiday Bob. We're looking at Cyprus for next year. Caroline works with a chap who owns an apartment in Paphos and we would get mates rates so a definite possibility.

Graham
Spent a couple of weeks in Paphos in February. Not totally spoilt by tourism, plenty of places to get a decent Greek Cypriot meal at reasonable prices. But the spotting is dire -Paphos airport is VERY quiet, almost entirely British and Ryanair, though it is used for occasional delivery flights of ATR72s to the Far East. Not on any airways so very little OTT, if they are trailing (they usually are not) you can just pick out a stream of El Al 738s and 739s heading west in the morning and back east in the afternoon.
Weather in February was pleasant, would not go in summer as too damn hot!
Good luck!

Cheers Jerry. A friend of ours went out to Cyprus in August 2015 for a family wedding and said that being stood there in a penguin suit, plus tie in 44c heat was a rather unpleasant experience. We would probably go in June or Sept but we will look at a few options first. We've always fancied a return trip to Kefalonia and would also like to see the western side of Crete.

Caroline works with a chap who owns an apartment in Paphos and we would get mates rates so a definite possibility. My brother-in law is is Paphos now it is 85 degrees today which is still cool for him- loves it though staying at the Olympic Lagoon resort all inclusive. Me and the good lady are staying at the sister resort in Agia Napa where we stayed last year top notch great food and nice cold beer. My Brother in Law says the final approach in Paphos can be viewed from the hotel. I would take your mate up on his offer- lot's of nice restaurants and taverna's in Paphos as well as a ruin or two to look at- have been three times there but never all inclusive like I am this year. Went to the Agia Napa last year in August was hot but a drink and a nice dip in the pool does the trick. Can't wait to go- just looking forward to a break. Happy days Bob

Getting away from holidays for a short time- the sun has come out today was hoping to see the two new Ryanair's but as they were not trailing missed both FRX on the DUB-POZ and FRY inbound and outbound BHX albeit Les (Telford) saw it. Just before going to Warrington to take the good lady on some retail therapy pre holiday got:- LX-LYO Glex heading west not trailing. Then when I got home- the god's were good to me and the following three hit the books:- 15:25- EI-FRX- 737-8 Inbound DUB not trailing 15:40- G-JZHJ - 737-8 LBA-AGP on climb out 15:55- EI-FRY- 737-8 on climb out of MAN for DUB Clouding over again now so going to iron my work stuff for the last few shifts before my hols' Happy Days Bob

Just 2 for me today, both LHR first visits (I think), A6-EUE A380 and N791AV 788 of Avianca
Tomorrow's Avianca is showing as N781AV, if so all the fleet will have visited except for N792AV which was only delivered this week. I have made 6 so far, 3 to go!

On a weather day that was offering good prospects, I failed to capitalise, and some managed to evade my binoculars, but a reasonable nine did find there way into the book.

Just one for me today, N781AV 788 of Avianca, just below the cloud as it headed for LHR 27. Cloud cleared after dark, OE-LWA EMB.190 went overhead on LHR departure (unusual), and saw UR-ZYD AN124 returning to BZZbut not needed.
